It feels good to be back in Mauritius. Since 2016 the street-art scene in Port Louis, the capital, has developed from the first four murals that year to more than seventy. I always stay in the northern part of the island. Still, this is only a half hour bus tour from the capital. I did see some of these murals on a previous trip to the island. I just didn't remember I allready had the photoes.

The photos of these colorful shop shutters in Chinatown were taken in 2021. Luckily that I did that. They are not in a good shape any more., so I didn't take new photos. I continued to the narrow alley around the corner – The Venpin St. I have been here before. Actually I have been to each and everyone of the streets in Chinatown. This is the district where you will find the largest amount of street art. But, each year I come, I allways go back to these streets to check out if there is something new.

I saw this beautiful mural in a shopping centre at Victoria Station. The artist is Tan Zii who has called her mural «Blossom». I was painted last year. There used to be another painting at the excact same wall.

The walls in Venpin St. Are covered by paintings on both side. (I have already done posts from here before). I am not sure if there is omething new since last time, but I think I haven't noticed these before. There are lots of very small paintings in between the larger ones. Easy to miss these. The street is also called the Manga street because of the Japanese Manga characters that are found on the walls. Most of the paintings were done in 2020. Since this was during Covid-19, no international artist could come to the island. All are done by local artists.

These two are found in other districts of Port Louis. The photo above are painted on tiles. The name of this man is Pasteur. This must be Louis Pasteur, (1822 -1895)the French chemist who is known for vaccination and also considered the founder of hygiene and pasteurization. The same artist has made the same kind of paining of Sun Yat Sen in Chinatown. Also on tiles.Whether there are anything new in town, I will have to check out on my next trip to the city.
