Mostovo is a little village in Rhodope Mountains, Bulgaria, with only 67 residents, and it is located in the middle of an energetic triangle formed by three sanctuaries. It is said that these points create one of the strongest energy zones in Europe - the monastery “Krastova Gora”, the ancient Roman sanctuary “Karadjov Kamak” and “Belintash” - a cult site of the ancient Thracian - on the rocky plateau are outlined mirror projections of important parts of the star chart. Hundreds of people testify for a frequent paranormal phenomena and claim to feel the strong energy. I actually didn’t know any of these facts. I just knew that I was going in the Rhodope Mountains to climb the « beans » rocks, nothing about energy zones and ancient sanctuaries, not even the name of the village.

I’ve always thought that the Rhodope Mountains are a magical place but still I was so impressed by the beauty around the village.

We actually had arrived here the previous day, but it was dark and waking up and seeing this beauty around you us kind of surprising. The ride to this village was pretty much off-road, it included even passing through the river(it was shallow though). It was hard to find, we received a lot of guidance so it was like a secret place.

Ecologists and climbers have some dissentions about that place, because of some rare birds, that have nests on the rocks, but still I managed to attend something like a rock climbing course there and this place will remain always in my heart :). It looks so pure, untouched and gorgeous.

I admire climbing as a sport because it gives so much - not only strengh, endurance,
toughness, adventure, but also great connection with nature, exploring some amazing places..I can count a lot more. One of the beat things - it connects you with the other climbers in a unique way, since trust and responsability are a big part of it. Your life is literally in someone else’s hands and someone else’s life is in your hands. I am extremely intoverted person usually so it was always strange for me how easy I interact with other climbers and how comfortable I feel in such environment. It is just that this activity has uniting power (as a lot more sports).

And of course if it wasn’t the climbing I wouldn’t have discovered this beautiful place.

So close to this village Mostovo, around the path leading to Karadjov Kamak, there are some equiped sport climbing routes.

It is not easy to climb there even though more of the routes are slightly slanting. That’s because there are literally no grips. The climbers called them the rocks with the beans.. Let’s climb the beans. Because that’s what you’ve got - some little rock beans to step on them, it is practically friction holdless climbing, strengh doesn’t help you(there is nothing to pull on) it is only balance, technique and mindset. The good thing about that is that my manicure wasn’t such a problem as usually for climbing.
It is visible here how he is wondering where to place his hands :D

It can be pretty desperate or/and effortless. Once you are there, it looks like that.

And after that it’s time for a new one.

It is time to go back « home » near the river.

I don’t know if it is because of the energy zone, the climbing, the people, or the spectacular nature around us, but that was one hell of a day!

The next day is another climbing day in heaven.
