It has become a tradition of ours to visit Gardens by the Bay to view the Christmas lights display. It is the most extravagant display in the city, and the best part is that it doesn’t require any payment to enjoy an evening under the vibrant, colorful lights. In fact, we don’t just go to the gardens during Christmas. We visit as often as the holidays allow because they usually have different themes and displays for every major holiday. The events we would regret missing are the Lantern Festival, Christmas Wonderland, and the Chinese New Year. These three are the major holidays that always guarantee a spectacular display at the gardens. One of my personal favorites is Christmas Wonderland because the weather during this time is perfect for strolling around the park—and that’s exactly what we did last Sunday!
I recorded a video as I walked through the series of displays. Fortunately, it wasn’t crowded at that hour; otherwise, I wouldn’t have enjoyed such a pleasant walk.
Although we haven’t entered the main Christmas Wonderland display yet, we still enjoyed hanging around the Christmas lights at the entrance of the park. We’re saving the full Wonderland experience for Christmas Eve, as we don’t want to spoil the fun by going too early. Another reason we plan to visit on Christmas Eve is that the main area of Wonderland requires a ticket for entry. We’re holding onto our excitement until then! Even so, it’s an enjoyable experience to simply walk around the park at this time of year. It’s both relaxing and a good form of exercise.
I took a snap showing a glimpse of the Christmas lights display. It was lovely to receive feedback from people who noticed it. Some mentioned that the design of the Christmas lights reminded them of a cathedral’s stained glass windows. I completely agree. It does look very similar, which is probably the inspiration behind the design. Since there are no cathedrals near the park, the lights seem to recreate the feeling of going to church, guiding visitors along a trail of light. That’s exactly how I felt while walking through this enchanting series of Christmas displays.
Some people have even referred to the lights as gates or gateways, and when I looked back at the photos, I realized their description made perfect sense.
During our walk, we came across the ticketing booth for the Wonderland, which also featured a charming display resembling Santa's boots. It immediately caught our attention, as many people were taking selfies with it. I found the display playful and very eye-catching.
A booth shop also sells balloons and other holiday items to enhance the experience. If you don’t mind spending a little extra, it’s definitely something to consider. After all, the joy and memories you’ll create during this experience are worth far more than the cost of the balloon itself. So, getting one might not be a bad idea after all! :)
Overall, Gardens by the Bay truly knows how to capture the festive spirit with its stunning holiday displays, making it a perfect destination for creating cherished memories. Whether it’s enjoying the lights, exploring themed booths, or simply soaking in the magical atmosphere, the experience is always worth it. I can’t wait to return for Christmas Eve and fully immerse myself in the season's wonder!
