The goal for day 2 was Todra Gorge, just north of Tinghir and about 90km away from Goulmima. A little elevation gain at the end, otherwise nice and flat.

Still quite cold in the morning, which meant layers upon layers of clothing. Now that I had a little confidence, I decided to don a pair of headphones for the ride to listen to a playlist titled “motorcycle cruising music” on Spotify.

Our first stop was at the Alaska Cafe Patisserie for coffee. We passed through Tinejdad and made our way toward Tinghir. Along the way we met a group of Portuguese motorcyclists. They were on normal sized bikes which looked absolutely enormous next to our monkey bikes. Instead of stopping for lunch in Tinghir, we pressed on to eat at a restaurant in Todra Gorge. That happened to be near our hotel for the evening.

Shortish day of driving meant for a relaxing late afternoon and evening! We visited the home of a Berber family selling some really lovely rugs and djellabas (see picture below if you don’t know what they are).

Trying on a djellaba. Quite cozy!

This was another successful day of riding! I was happy to have two good days under my belt because day 3 would involve crossing the Atlas Mountains. In January. On monkey bikes. I wasn’t entirely sure what sort of elevation we’d get to. Really didn’t think this through…

Anyway, here are some pictures in the gorge.
