I hope you guys are enjoying your day
Chandartaal Lake is the most awaited destination for everyone who plans to visit the beautiful land of Lahaul & Spiti in Himachal Pradesh.
It is situated at the height of 4290 meters, the lake has got its name based on its Crescent Shape.
The half moon shape is due to the rock mountains at every side of the lake.
This lake is also known as the "Moon Lake". Due to its remote and high altitude location this beautiful lake is accessible only from late May to early October.
There also exists a Sun Lake and a very famous tale on these two famous lakes was told to us by a local person at Batal that I will share in my next post.
One can reach Chandartaal on their motor vehicles as well as they can trek for long four days.
The taal changes its color depending on the color of the sky.
Chandartaal is famous for the reflection made in the lake.
It looks like a gaint mirror placed horizontally on the surface of earth and reflects the whole sight with mountains, sky and even a smallest single details of the surrounding.
If you look at the sight continuously for few seconds, you could even experience an illusion of the parallel earth.
It is a mysterious place and also identified as a wetland of national importance in 2005, due to presence of rare plants, variety of animal species.
Our plan of camping at Chandartaal failed because we got very late and the road to Chandartaal is narrow and very risky, so we had to stay at Batal for that night.
With no signals and power in our cell phones, we all surrounded ourselves in front of the huge mountains of Batal with chilling wind.
We stayed in an igloo made of fiber and wood.
A place with mixture of tranquility and illusion forces you to question your own existence.
I will be uploading the part 2 of this post soon..
Till then keep steeming..
Thank You
