Hi friends,
What better message can we give with urban art than equality between men and women?
A few years ago in a small town in northern Spain called Navia was held an urban art contest with a special theme which was feminism and the fight against sexism. The contest was held in the vicinity of the soccer field of Navia (Avenida del Pardo).
Several works of various Spanish artists were executed and one of the ones I liked the most was a work of Bastian Prendes in which he represented a winged woman fleeing from a wolf. A way of representing freedom and at the same time the cruelty that an abusive man can have.
However, this work was presented in another of the editions of the CCC`s Street Art Contest and therefore today I present the second work that I liked the most.
It is a mural whose protagonist surely you know all those who were born between the 80s and 2000 and is the famous Marge Simpson. Unmistakable and unrepeatable wife Homer and mother of Bart, Lisa and Maguie.
As you can see in the mural, Marge is represented with her hair up and showing muscle, that muscle with that unbreakable strength that every woman has and even more so when they are defending their rights and freedoms.
Flanking Marge, two roses can be seen. They are very well executed and reinforce the message of femininity that a flower like roses give and at the same time their strength, since they present thorns as weapons of defense against their aggressors.
Additionally, the graffiti presents a pyramid with the all-seeing eye.
A nod to providence?
A message that the strength of women is above the strength of pyramids and divine providence?
Unfortunately, there were several signatures on the graffiti and I have not managed to decipher them to know the authors of the graffiti and try to contact them through social networks to learn more about the graffiti.
Friends, this is my contribution this week with a nice message against male violence, equality of women and men and of course the great strength that every woman has inside.
