I am one of those people who like sunshine and good weather. But I can also enjoy a good walk on a meteorologically complicated day.
Last Thursday, in full succession of squalls in the Cantabrian coast, I was in the beautiful city of A Coruña and after leaving work I went to the promenade of Riazor-Orzan beach.
With wind gusts of more than 120 km / h the atmosphere was cold and a little unpleasant.
But the fierceness of the Cantabrian Sea, in the middle of a squall, call me crazy, but it attracts me.
I guess, the hypnotic sound of the wave beating against the viewpoint and feeling insignificant before the force of nature has something appealing.
When I was approaching the viewpoint of the beach, I saw a strange sculpture that simulated waves in different directions, representing the disorderly waves that usually occur in storms in this sea of northwestern Spain.
Nothing could be further from the truth, it is a monument that commemorates the memory of a swimmer and three policemen who died trying to rescue him.
Since then, many devices are activated in the city of A Coruña to avoid another tragic situation and I could see during my walk several civil protection patrols warning of the dangers and closing access to dangerous areas.
At the same time, to protect the promenade with the sand of the beach, a dune of more than 10 meters high was built.
For this purpose, a large bulldozer was used, which I saw working throughout my walk to gain more height. But to tell you that early Thursday morning to Friday the water managed to overcome it.
I continued my walk, along the beach, until I reached a side area of the beach, where the dune was no longer built, and I found a large window that allowed me to take some pictures of the city and the beach through its reflection.
And I continued walking to a breakwater where several curious people approached to photograph the waves and the city.
Even television cameras were recording sequences for the evening news.
And it was not for less seeing from that area the force with which the sea was hitting against the rocks raising foam.
In the distance, I began to see the rain storm with a bad intention of approaching the city.
So I returned my way back to the hotel saying goodbye before sheltering me from the beach of Riazor-Orzan.
