Freiburg im Breisgau is a beautiful place full of vegetation and picturesque town right at the foot of the Black Forest Mountains, the mountains from which the Danube springs.
Is a pleasant and relaxing city with a very large student center boasting a beautiful and old university .This is called Albert Ludwig University in Freiburgis the fifth oldest university in Germany, Even if it is not a very big city with an area of 153.07 km² and about 224917 inhabitants ,Freiburg was the largest city between Basel and Strasbourg.
The center of the city is characterized by its beautiful paved streets and through the rapid breezes called Bachles that pass through the city center, which are now clean and full of wooden boats drawn by children's with strings in the warm seasons. And through them flows the water that comes from the Dreisam River.Today these are some beautiful streams but in medieval times, they were used to drain the waste.
Also in the center of the city is the famous Freiburger Munster which has become one of the largest cathedrals in medieval Germany. And many believe that his 116-meter tower is the most beautiful tower in the Christian world. And this is an impressive appearance in Freiburg, the Cathedral and the Tower dominating the entire old center.
Around the cathedral there is one of the most beautiful and picturesque markets in Germany, where besides all the goodies found on the stands in this market we can also make a stop to taste the famous German wurst.
Do not forget that Saturday is the best day to visit the traditional products market in Munster Platz.
Freiburg is the perfect location to explore the surroundings, to have many wonderful memories from different countries. You can make day trips in all directions. You can go to the Black Forest Mountains or go to Switzerland, because Basel is only 68 km away, or you can visit the beautiful Colmar in France, which is also very close to Freiburg, about 49 km away.
Martinstor is the beautiful tower next to McDonalds in the Center, it is said that here, in other times than today , here witches were killed and even an inscription certifying this.
Martinstor is the oldest tower of the two gates of Freiburg Germany ,which have been preserved since medieval times and still standing and very beautiful, these gates called Martinstor and Schwabentor Tower are located right in the city center.
Also in the center of the city after we get enthusiastic, on its streets we enter in a big and beautiful square where we meet the town hall this being built in Gothic style .
These pictures are made during a beautiful scroll carnival in Germany , called Fastnacht
Let's see some beautiful streets and amazing places in the city center
Konzerthaus can not be associated with any architectural style ,with a unique and amazing style. This building, namely Freiburg Konzerthaus, is a hall for concerts in Freiburg im Breisgau, it was opened to the public in year 1996.
In front of the Konzerthaus we can se this gigantic ticking .
In the right side glued by Konzerthaus is the great hotel called Novotel , and in front of it a beautiful bridge that young people usually stay in beautiful days climbing on its high iron railings to admire the beautiful sunsets.
Here is also a bridge the one I have made the picture of this hotel, that is raised over the rail tracks of the Freiburg trainstation, this bridge is dedicated to trams and a little further ahead we meet the Hautbanhof Freiburg, which has links to any destination.
And beside the Hauptbahnhof Freiburg there is the Intercity Hotel, the one I was staying ,and from the window of which I surprised this amazing view.
This hotel offers good service, including access to underground parking and free public transport tickets.
In my journey through Freiburg I have surprised many beautiful places as well as this beautiful Colombi Schloos located in the area Colombipark.
I have seen many impressive buildings
And beautiful bridge over the Dreisam
What can I say more about this beautiful town in Germany, I really do not know there is so much more to say and see, I liked it very much. I liked this area of Germany that is worth reviewing on every occasion.
