As I told you in previous posts, the luck of my work leads me to discover villages and towns that I would probably never have the chance to know in my life and this is the case of Nozzano, a beautiful village in the province of Lucca in Tuscany.

I discovered this castle that fascinated me a lot because it is very particular and very rare in this area of Tuscany, but as I read in the information signs of the area it was built in 1200 by the famous Matilde di Canossa, most likely to protect the Serchio river because in a hilly area you could more easily see the ships going up the river.

surely I recommend you to visit it if you are near Lucca because if you are lucky enough to find a good guide you will learn many things about these areas.

If I remember correctly the entrance was only 3 euros and was managed by volunteers in fact that day unfortunately I could not find a place because they entered a little at a time and therefore it was necessary to wait a long time for the shift to become free, and for my work reasons I had to postpone the visit.

The thing that impressed me most of all is that the castle was well kept which was not to be taken for granted in Italy, and then the beautiful thing that is in the road that goes to Pisa and is far from the tourist circuits of Massa and therefore is worth even more. worth a visit.

I hope you enjoyed this post and made you discover this hidden part of Tuscany for sure this summer if I have some time and I will return to this magnificent Borgo to fully visit this castle.
