| There is one small departure hall & one equally small arrival area. I thought, I could perhaps watch football while waiting, but … no wifi & no TV screens. When I arrived there it was virtually dead, except for 2 German tourists & a few taxi drivers. Only one hour before scheduled departure some shops opened. | Es gibt eine kleine Abflughalle & eine ebenso kleine Ankunfthalle. Ich hatte gedacht, ich könnte während des Wartens vielleicht Fußball sehen, aber … kein W-Lan & keine Fernsehschirme. Als ich dort ankam, war fast alles tot, außer mir waren nur 2 deutsche Touristen & ein paar Taxifahrer zu sehen. Erst eine Stunde vor dem geplanten Abflug öffneten einige kleine Läden. |

| It's considered Patras Airport, but Patras doesn't seem to care. Only 2 buses go there every day, one at 7.10 a.m., the other at 12 noon. & don't call them airport express, they are essentially suburban busses with their terminal at the airport. The good thing is, they are fairly cheap, only 4.40 Euro per ticket. The bad thing is, they are slow. | Es ist zwar quasi der Flughafen von Patras, aber Patras scheint das nicht weiter zu kümmern. Es gibt jeden Tag nur 2 Busse zum Flughafen, einer um 7.10, der andere fährt um 12 Uhr mittags. & man sollte sie nicht Airport Express nennen. Es sind eigentlich nur Vorortbusse mit der Endstation Flughafen. Das Gute daran ist, daß sie relativ billig sind, nur 4,40 Euro pro Person. Das Schlechte daran ist, daß die Fahrt ewig dauert. |

| It's only 42 km from Patras to Araxos Airport, but the bus I took needed 2 hours to get there. It went mostly along the old national highway no. 9, but took detours into some small towns on the way. You can wave it down at any bus stop along the way, as it seems. Which is an advantage if you live closer to one of the bus stops, because you don't need to go to the KTEL bus station & you can pay on the bus. Another advantage is that you can see quite a bit of the landscape. | Es sind nur 42 km von Patras zum Araxos Airport, aber der Bus, den ich nahm, brauchte 2 Stunden für den Weg. Er fuhr zumeist entlang der alten Landstraße 9, machte aber immer mal wieder Ausflüge in kleinere Ortschaften in der Nähe. Man kann den Bus an jeder Haltestelle entlang des Weges heranwinken, wie's scheint. Was wiederum ein Vorteil ist, wenn man in der Nähe einer dieser Haltestellen wohnt, weil man dann nicht zum KTEL-Busbahnhof muß. Außerdem kann man im Bus bezahlen. Ein weiterer Vorteil ist, daß man so einiges von der Landschaft sieht. |

| Huge disadvantage for me was that my flight was at 5.55 p.m - not to mention the delay until 8 p.m. So I had several hours to fill, which turned it into some kind of advantage again, because the area of Araxos is not too bad. It's mostly flat, unlike Patras, which means there are a lot of fields. | Ein großer Nachteil für mich war die Tatsachen, daß mein Flug erst um 17.55 Uhr geplant war - geplant, denn dazu kam dann noch eine Verspätung von mehr als 2 Stunden. Also hatte ich mehrere Stunden zur freien Verfügung, was dann wiederum so eine Art Vorteil war, weil die Gegend um Araxos nicht uninteressant ist. Es ist meist flach, anders als Patras, & deshalb gibt es dort viele Felder. |

| Sadly they close at 3 p.m., & although I got there at 2.48 they didn't let me in. Something to do in the future then. | Leider schließt die Anlage um 15 Uhr, & obwohl ich um 14.48 Uhr dort ankam, ließ man mich nicht mehr hinein. Ist also etwas, was man sich noch für die Zukunft vornehmen kann. |

| I tried to reach some rocky mountains at the coast line which I had seen from the bus, but only got there around the time I had planned to turn around. So I only reached a quarry at the foot of the 1st mountain, took some pictures of the quarry itself & of a lagoon on the other side of the road. Which could also be interesting for a future trip, because of the wading birds I saw there. | Ich wollte eigentlich zu einigen felsigen Bergen an der Küste, die ich vom Bus aus gesehen hatte. Aber ich erreichte sie erst zu dem Zeitpunkt, den ich für die Umkehr geplant hatte. Also kam ich nur bis zu einem Steinbruch am Fuß des ersten dieser Berge, machte ein paar Bilder vom Steinbruch selber & von einer Lagune auf der anderen Seite der Straße. Diese könnte auch für einen zukünftigen Ausflug von Interesse sein, wegen der Watvögel, die ich dort sah. |
