Hello walkers of Hive!
I was lucky enough to go to Glasgow with work this week.
In my downtime I really wanted to check out the city even with the rain storms scheduled!
The sun briefly showed itself which was a shock.
Downtown
The variety of architecture throughout the city is amazing. I had no real plan or buildings that I really wanted to see, I was wandering aimlessly most of the time!
The Scottish Legal Life building. The street was recently closed for filming of a new Disney Marvel project which was highly documented online!
Glasgow Film Theatre.
An old bank branch.
The front and rear of a huge library.
Some period buildings that caught my eye.
Looking up to a spire of a former church.
An old school building from 1846 currently under renovation.
An impressive, 100 year old sandstone fronted theatre.
Dockyard area
Ending my day at the peaceful docks. Once full of ships and activity, this area is now almost the exact opposite. There are river tours and the area is now host to stadiums and museums.
The SEC Armadillo (right) hosts theatre and film and the OVO Hydro hosts concerts and sports events.
An IMAX theatre (right) and the Science Centre with observation tower.
An huge old industrial crane, not many of these still exist any more.
There are so many angles of these uniques buildings to capture!
There is also a plaque commemorating the life of a man named Marshall "Major" Taylor 1878 - 1932. He became a major figure in global cycling after overcoming the 'Jim Crow' laws of racial segregation and horrific racism throughout his career to become the first African American world champion.
Glasgow is such an amazing place to explore, I hope you enjoyed this post!
Take care everyone.
