My great experience in Morocco continues exactly in Marrakech, in this post I will tell you about my experience staying in a (Riad) it is probably the first time you read the word but a riad is synonymous with Moroccan "architecture", they are very famous for their colors and for have an open space in the shape of a "Cour" that can be made on a higher floor or in the center of the house! Today answer several questions, such as: (Are they expensive? Is it worth the stay? How is the experience? I will clarify all that in this post!🕌🚩🌏

An economic reserve🌳🚩/ Una reserva economica🌏

As you can see, the Riad that we reserved was done more than a month in advance. If you want to visit Morocco, I recommend you in the spring season when the weather is quite pleasant! However, don't worry, a Riad usually comes with air conditioning if you can't tolerate high temperatures! We got this on Booking and it had a good reputation of 9.5, the price? It is around 45-60 euros, quite cheap! Normally you get the Riad in the center of the city so it has its advantages and disadvantages, such as not all the streets of Marrakech have access to vehicles. This Riad, for example, does not have road access so you will have to walk about 15 minutes to the main avenue, a bit annoying because you have to carry your heavy suitcases!🤴🐫🍍

Tradition vs security and privacy🕌🚩/ Tradicion vs seguridad y privacidad🌏

Beautiful architecture🕌🚩

We stayed four days in the Riad and despite not being very comfortable in terms of size and privacy in the bathroom, it is one of those experiences that you only have once in your life, so it is worth knowing how Moroccans live together, and a Riad It allows you that communion with the owner of the facility and we learn about their culture! however if you want privacy, comfort and luxury I recommend a hotel. We conclude that an experience here would be better at a hotel located on a main road.🌍🧠

What does its architecture and typical food consist of?🕌🚩/ En que consiste su arquitectura y sus comidas tipicas🌏

I don't know what a French breakfast is like but I have been told that there is a mixture between Moroccan and French! For example, our breakfasts were practically the same, tortillas and homemade bread made with various types of flour, fruit jams and orange juice! Regarding the architecture, it is quite fresh, colorful and pleasant. Despite the fact that they are small houses, you do not feel suffocated between the walls, everything is well distributed! And of course the tradition in this country is houses with an open floor for breakfast or tea at nightfall!🌏🧭

It seems to me that despite being a "macho" culture, even though they are very open, I saw many paintings of women showing their culture, many of the decorative objects are African and of course that was to be expected being a North African country! It is very rare to see that French influence in architecture and decoration! they are very reserved with their tradition, religion and identity! I told my wife that they don't like tourists, they tolerate them because they live off of it!🤴🌏

What did I learn about Riads?🕌🚩/ Que aprendi sobre los Riad🌏

I learned that the Riads come from those Persian origins with an Islamic mix! therefore they are very old constructions, since the Romanesque era, constructions with Riad architecture were already seen. And it spread to various parts of the world!🚩🌏

A little culture🕌🚩/ Un poco de cultura🌏

Visit this cooperative of women who make various types of products with seeds that are harvested from the south of the country, as you can see they use a very old stone tool that grinds the seeds producing an oil and a paste! the oil is used for various beauty products the paste... I don't know xD don't ask haha! but force is required to move the tool, it is quite interesting to learn what they do to survive! Imagine how necessary these cooperatives are for them who don't even know how to speak English, they only know the Berber and Moroccan language.🕌🌏
