And so, the second part of my stay at The Sir George in Jugiong in regional New South Wales. The previous part dealt with the really decent pub and kitchen down in the main area of the hotel.

We also ended up staying the night as part of our get away from the kids trip away whilst they stayed with a grandparent. Originally, we were looking for one of the places that we had stayed at before in the past.. either on holiday or as part of our honeymoon. However, in the end, we thought it would be nice to find somewhere new that we hadn't been to before... and I suggested The Sir George, as I had briefly visited it when I was playing for a wedding, and then there were others in the extended family who had mentioned that it had a great pub with really good food as well.

All the accommodation rooms are behind the old pub/hotel building... either in this long "barn" building that has about 4 or so different seperated rooms... or in one of the 8 or so standalone "black barns" which line the courtyard.

We ended up in one of the large black barns which ended up being one very large room with an ensuite. Actually, quite a very nice room and with its own air-conditioning which made it quite warm despite the cold Australian winter... I suspect that it was also quite well insulated as well, as it started to get a bit too warm! Well, that and the heating was turned up pretty high... we tend to have it lower!

A very small kitchenette with no stove top... but a small fridge. There was complimentary breakfast stuff... very nice sourdough, and lots of preserves and yoghurts and that sort of things... very decent food from the local surrounds... but no easy way to wash things (there was a bucket...), which was a bit of a downside.

On the other hand, you wouldn't really be eating here much... the pub and all that good food is just a short stroll across the courtyard!

A little sitting area rounded out the room... I did find it nice to just curl up there with a book or a laptop!

... and finally, a large and open ensuite. No bathtub, not a problem for me... but my wife sometimes likes one when she is travelling!

It was a touch expensive at around 500 AUD per night... but staying in the relaxing quiet and darkness of the regions is really worth it. Plus, the local food is really excellent... as are the surrounding wineries that are scattered all around within easy driving distance!
