Sydney (and Australia) is a huge melting pot of different cultures... and one of the best things about this multicultural diversity is the incredibly selection of great food that we have to sample from!
Now, when I'm in Sydney, I mostly get Asian food... just because there is a large community here, and the quality is top notch, especially in comparison to Europe where I used to live.
However, this time, I was recommended this South American place... a sort of deli slash eatery that was near the hotel that I was staying at. Now, South American food is pretty damn good, even if it tends to be a bit meat heavy... so, I was keen to at least try it out!
The Space
As I mentioned, it is a weird combination of deli/grocery store selling unusual South American produce and brands... and a kitchen that serves up cantina style food.
All of it is pretty informal, and there was a bunch of people here that were speaking Spanish... so, I figured that this was a good place to come to!
The Menu
Oh wow... so many things to choose from! I had no idea what to start with... and despite staying nearby for a few days, I didn't think that I would visit too often... I didn't want to have too many heavy meals in a row, as my stomach would revolt even if it was super good!
The Food
I ended up picking up the Lomo Saltando (the upper left selection on the first menu photo). It was suggested by the waitress as one of the house specialties... and wow, it was amazing. The meat was great, as was the sauce and marinade... but the real star of the show was the flavoured rice... nice a firm, with a distinct taste... I do wonder if they cook it in something more than just water! I will have to look that up...

... and to wash it all down, an Inca Cola! Not tasting like your usual Coca-Cola... this was quite refreshing and a very distinct but pleasant taste!
The Experience
The staff were crazily friendly, the food was a touch on the expensive side of things, but it was really quite good. I'm definitely returning back in the future now that I know that this is here... and I will bring my family the next time we are in Sydney. I might even pick up a crate of Inca Cola to take with me... but I think I will browse the deli shelves to see what interesting things I can take back!
Highly recommended if you are in the Darling Harbour area of Sydney!
