Kirketon Hotel: Sydney, AUSTRALIA

Well, that photo didn't quite turn out as I had expected! I was walking down the stairs, and I had a bit of a bum leg... so, perhaps I wasn't quite as stable as I had thought when I pressed the shutter button!

Anyway, that was the foyer of the Kirketon in Sydney... I thought it wasn't really fair to post a photo of the outside, as there was some pretty heavy street construction going on whilst I was there, the sidewalk immediately outside the hotel was being ripped up and replaced... so it was quite a mess!

Different groups that I play with have different budgets for their accommodation for out of town players... and the Kirketon is probably in the mid range of offerings... I definitely had much worse, but also much better. And this wasn't at all terrible... just a bit no frills!

So, a hotel... but it is board only, no breakfast... which suits me just fine. I like to go out for a little walk in the morning, and the location of the Kirketon is quite good... with lots of cafes and restaurants close by and easy access to the train network of Sydney as well. And close enough to walk to the CBD as well.... so, no complaints on that side of things!

The hallways are pretty non-descript... it is better lit than other places that I've stayed in at least!

... and the rooms are tight, with the bed filling up most of the space, and the shower/bathroom area off to the right. The bedroom area was fine, but I have to say that the bathroom was in need of a renovation though... the sink was not draining properly due to the wrong levelling which meant that water wouldn't drain down the sink and would just collect on the side. Annoying, but it just meant that I would have to use my hand to swish the water down the sink...

The biggest complaint was that the walls and doors are pretty thin... No problems on most of the nights that I was there, but there was one middle of the night where there were late returning revelers who were a touch loud in the hallway and rooms...

... and the view... well, at least there is a window...
