A new job, and a new hotel to be put into... this was one that was completely unknown to me, despite the fact that I normally stay just around the corner when I'm playing with a different group... actually, I have walked past this building quite a few times, but it never struck me that this was a hotel/serviced apartment sort of thing! It is one huge block of a building with gigantic doors...
... that lead into an arcade sort of area. These seem to managed by the people that run the hotel on the other floors... and they seem to be mostly real estate related.
And the reason that the building just seems so strange... well, it used to be a gigantic wool-shed storage that was converted into a habitable building! And the fingerprints of that earlier use case will be apparent in a moment when we ascend up the levels!
Long and large walkways... a bit reminiscent of a prison or something... but which were likely used to be able to load and access the storage areas up high... no safety railings or anything...
... which is interesting in safety obsessed Australia. As you can see, it is a long long long way to the bottom! I'm pretty sure that I won't be taking that short cut to the ground level... but I do hear kids running up and down the gangway, and I could imagine that there might be an accident happening... at least in the prison that I have seen, there was safety netting. And the prison was an old disused prison... not an in-use one!!!
Opening the door to the serviced apartment leads you into a long and slightly thin living room finishing in a balcony. The balcony is nice, but it is in close proximity to the neighbour balconies... seperated by a metal grating... but it is definitely not private!
... the kitchen... functional, and no problem.
And weirdly enough, the living quarters are DOWN the stairs to the lower level. I guess that is sort of cool... I'm more used to going UP to the living quarters, but down is also fun... more likely a hidey hole! I could imagine my kids going crazy about this!
... the smaller room, the master bedroom was already claimed by my colleague...
And finally, the view from the balcony... actually, it is pretty nice! Pity about the lack of privacy with the adjoining apartments.
