Cafe Tabouli: Sydney, AUSTRALIA.jpg

In Homebush, where I normally try to dump my car (free parking...) when travel to Sydney, there is a little shopping area with lots and lots of nice looking restaurants and cafes... I've made it my mission to try out each of them!

On this particular trip, I had migrated from my preferred bakery across the road to this nice looking cafe on the same corner on the roundabout... Cafe Tabouli!

The Space

As you approach the take-away ordering station... you can see that there are quite a few nice looking dishes and things... all with a Middle Eastern or Turkish sort of vibe to it. And the prices are surprisingly decent for Sydney!

On the inside, everything is nice and spacious... and looking well kempt as well. There are two seating sections in addition to he outdoor undercover seating, and for the time of day that I was here (early lunch during a weekday), it wasn't too busy at all... however, within half an hour of arriving, it started to fill up as workers started their lunch breaks.

The Menu

An all day breakfast menu was on offer... but the specials weren't yet. Sadly... everything here looked a bit too heavy for what I wanted to eat at that moment...

Manoush... well, this looked interesting! I would sort of know these as Turkish pizzas in the Netherlands... they sort of look the same? But the ones in Netherlands were rolled up with a soft base... and these looked a little harder. This was more in line with what I was after... but no cheese!

The Food

So, a spiced lamb Manoush is what I got... and it was pretty tasty! Just right for a light lunch snack before heading out and driving out of Sydney again... I don't like to eat too heavily when I am travelling.

... but the real star of the morning was this mango smoothie! Yum yum and yum!!!!! Ice cream smoothies are always going to be a hit with me... especially in the warmer Australian months!

The Experience

Chilled relaxed suburban cafe.,... with lots of interesting foods on offer, but from the kitchen and from the deli stand as well. I might end up coming here a few more times just to try out a few more interesting sounding dishes!

The staff were really nice too, fast service... and left you alone! Also, given the local suburban location of the place... it was nice to see that the staff knew the regulars and there was a definite community feel to the place.
