Barangaroo-Balmain Ferry: Sydney, AUSTRALIA.jpg

Being put up in an accommodation in Darling Harbour (Sydney) means that one of the easiest ways to get around is by ferry... and there isn't really that much better than taking the Sydney ferries on a nice clear day without too much in the way of waves. The Barangaroo (Darling Harbour side...) to Balmain ferry is a short 10 minute single stop hop... probably more expensive than it should be for the time that it takes, but still much more scenic than the longer but cheaper bus route that goes over Anzac bridge instead.

On the Barangaroo side of things, you have a long walkway with lots of restaurants and cafes, in addition to the moorings for the various tourist boats as well. On most of the days that I was returning back from work, I would stop by for a nice little ice-cream at a place near the ferry wharves. Sadly, I wasn't working enough days to get through the entire menu of flavours...

There are some very lucky people who manage to live on these foreshores... it must cost a fortune to own a place here! On the other hand, I think I would prefer to live further out and have more space...

The Barangaroo wharves.... well, they are a bit of a small affair... I think that this part of the harbour/river is a bit of a dead end, with only a single other stop on the rest of the line.... and the return ferry only going around the land to Circular Quay. In total, probably only about five stops?

Once you reach the Balmain side, well... you have a lovely view back towards the Barangaroo and Darling Harbour side of the water... with the Sydney city (well, parts of it...) as a backdrop. It really looks quite impressive and nice from this distance! However, like most things, they look better from a distance!

And if you look a bit further to the left, past the Balmain Wharf... you can see the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge in the distance. If you go under it (on a ferry...) and loop around to the right, you will find yourself back at Circular Quay... and if you continue further with a long loop to the left, then you will find yourself passing the ocean entrance, and then on to Manly!
