Hello all hive friends, who will reach this post. hope you all are well. And would be enjoying life...😊 Friends, yesterday we went to Maa Haat Kalika temple which is very beautiful, I would like to tell you about it..
Hat Kalika Temple is located in Gangolihat of Pithoragarh district and is a grand complex. It is believed that Goddess Kali shifted her residence from West Bengal to this place and since then she is the popular goddess of this region. Hat Kalika is worshipped by the Kumaon Regiment as their "Ishta Devi" or patron goddess or guardian protector.
The colours and murals on the walls depict the relationship of the Kumaon Regiment with the Goddess which gives the temple a distinct military ambience. This Shakti-peeth established by Guru Adi Shankaracharya is more than a thousand years old. Chamunda Temple, about 2 km from here is another holy place located in the vicinity of Hat Kalika Temple.
It is said that earlier Maa Kalika resided here but due to the anger of the Goddess, the place was deserted. When Adi Guru Shankaracharya came to this region, he was told about the anger of the Goddess. According to this incident, during that time the Goddess used to call the name of Mahadev at night and whoever heard this voice would die.
In such a situation, people were even afraid of passing through here, then Adi Guru Shankaracharya pleased the goddess with his tantra mantra chanting and then this temple was re-established.
The residence of Hat Kalika in Gangolihat is mentioned in the ancient religious texts of Hindus, because Guru Adi Shankaracharya chose this place to establish Mahakali Shakti Peeth. A holy fire keeps burning at the temple site since time immemorial which is considered to be the power of the goddess.
In modern times, Saint Jangam Baba prayed at the temple site for years and one day the goddess appeared in his dream and asked him to build a temple here. Therefore, the credit for the construction of the present temple goes to Jangam Baba.
Hat Kalika Temple holds great religious significance for the people of Kumaon region, especially the brave soldiers of the Kumaon Regiment of the Indian Army. According to the popular legend, once there was a very strong storm in the sea, due to which the ship carrying the soldiers of the Kumaon Regiment started shaking.
When all efforts to save the ship from sinking failed, the soldiers took refuge in Goddess Hat Kali and prayed to her. With the grace of Hat Kalika, the ship miraculously reached the shore safely. Since then, the residents of Kumaon region started considering Hat Kalika as their favorite goddess. Many soldiers come to Hat Kalika temple and offer their services in the temple. A tradition has been prevalent here for centuries.
The priests of the temple make the bed in the evening. In the morning when the doors of the temple are opened, there are folds on the bed. Local people believe that Mahakali herself rests at this place at night. It is also said that if a devotee worships the mother in this temple with a true heart, then all his wishes are fulfilled. Here, if the devotee ties a chunari in the temple and speaks his heart out, then there is a tradition of coming again and offering a bell after the wish is fulfilled.
Hat Kalika located in Gangolihat is considered to be the original form, while there is also a form of Hat Kalika at a place called Lachair, 20 km from Pithoragarh. Kalika Mandir is also established here. Those who are unable to visit Haat Kalika to have darshan of Maa, they visit Kalika Mandir at Lachair. The holy fire has been burning at the temple site for centuries and it is believed that it is the energy of Goddess Kalika.
Many visitors and devotees come here to seek blessings from Maa Kalika. It is said that if you offer flowers to Maa Kalika, you become healthy and wealthy. In modern times, Saint Jangam Baba used to worship in temples and Maa Kalika appeared in his dream and asked him to build a temple here.
