Hi,
My name is Barry, AKA Newfie Outdoorsman and I'm from Newfoundland, Canada.
I love activities like, hunting, fishing, backcountry hiking, backcountry camping. Some activities can be summed up in one word, bushcraft.
A short time ago I started a YouTube channel so I could share with everyone what I do when I am not working online.
When it comes to hunting, for me its usually moose, rabbits, coyote or duck hunting.
For fishing I am usually just fishing for trout. Around here there is not a whole lot of option in this area. For the most part it is either trout or Atlantic salmon. To go along with this I also tie my own trout flies since I usually only fish with a fly rod.
As for backcountry hiking, well, I prefer just going into the woods, no trails and exploring areas that for the most part are unexplored.
Backcountry camping for me is heading into a remote location, setting up a shelter, like a lean-to style shelter and spending the night. Maybe next to a pond or brook so I can have a chance to try for a trout in the process.
For me, in the woods is pretty much the only time my mind is clear, I can relax, take in the scenery, test my survival skills and most important, improve on my skills.
On top of all that, most every trip I make into the woods I usually cook up something over an open fire. There is just something about cooking over an open fire, can't beat it!
