Hi #fungifriday friends!❤ Today I want to share an interesting story about my journey in the forest which resulted in several photos of unique little mushrooms and I managed to use them
After finishing working all day, I decided to take a walk to the oil palm plantation in the Sawang subdistrict of my Paya Rabo village. Not long after entering the area, I saw an interesting group of palm trees that looked like they had been exposed to fire or burned. It turned out there was a mushroom with a unique shape and orange color. After searching on Google, I found that this mushroom was Phelebia radiata. Phelebia radiata is famous for its ability to degrade dead wood, and seeing it growing on a palm tree that had been exposed to fire made me feel like I had found a hidden treasure in the middle of a quiet garden.
My adventure is not finished yet. I continued my journey, and in a rotten palm frond lying on the ground I found another mushroom that was no less interesting. This mushroom had a softer shape and the color was also orange. After searching, this fungus is Dacryopinax spatularia, often also called yellow ear fungus. Its presence in rotting oil palm fronds shows how rich the ecosystem is in this oil palm plantation, capable of supporting the life of various types of fungi.
Not far from that place, on a rotten banana tree trunk, I found another species of fungus. This time the mushrooms I found were shaped like small balls colored orange and white. This fungus turned out to be physarum polycephalum, a slime mold, which often looks like a complex network spread over the surface of the growing medium. Seeing it growing on a rotting banana tree reminds me of the wonders of nature that are often hidden from our everyday view.
Adventure That day really opened my eyes to how rich the fungal biodiversity is around us. Even in places we consider normal.
Hopefully this story can inspire us all to care more about and appreciate the fungi that grow around us.
Just a few words today, friends in this beloved #fungifriday community.
