Malta, a small island in Mediterranean with a territory of only 316 square km ad a population reaching 0.5 mln people. Funny fact, the capital Valletta is only 800 mtrs long, but actually half Malta is one big city, just those small cities with different have just a nominal borders.
Last October we (with @publicumaurora) had a pleasure to be invited to perform a photographic workshop and also decided to stay a bit longer to explore the island, so it totally was a 10 days vacation there. We have chosen the hotel quite far away from the capital, however as appeared the transport system on Malta is developed very well with a buses going as per schedule all round the Malta for quite a cheap price (anyhow Malta is only 30 km long, so you can imagine that;s not a big deal, just traffic mostly is really terrible due those narrow streets in the old cities).
So, from the point of view that I;m always thinking about possibilities for various photoshoots (but not forget price of a hotel), we have booked a middle class Ambasador hotel in Xemxia, St.Pauls Bay. The hotel itself appeared to be really middle class (that was expected) but with two real good things. The location was chosen really well with a beautiful seaside and few interesting locations which could be reached just walking by foot (and we did few photoshoots just like that, not even taking car or taxi). We got maybe the best apartments in the hotel on the top floor and on the corner just to the seaside. So i had a real pleasure to take some shots just sitting on a balcony and drinking beer. Pretty fun, don't you agree? :)
And the next great thing was a Trattoria al Mare restaurant, which is servicing the hotel itself, but for lunch and dinner is open to everybody just like an ordinary restaurant. Moreover, that was not like usual hotel restaurant, but a family business with a perfect Chef. We booked hotel with half pansion (breakfast and dinner included). Breakfast was a normal for a hotels, but dinner was something special. You could chose from three dishes for salad and main course, which we prepared then by the Chef, and were really amazing. For all 10 days perfect variety and quality
Other thing is interior of the restaurant, which is actually the main topic of this post (for me as a photographer). I asked the permit to make some short photoshoot the last day morning and had a pleasure to make this beautiful set of photos. So many small details collected with true love and inspiration. Many of them are authentic and even quite antique
The set starts from two walls painted by Chef himself, whoa! And if you will have some force to look all the photos below (they are really many this time, but decided not to divide the post into few pieces this time), you will see some authentic loom and a chest from a real middle ages ship. Maybe even pirate? Who knows :)
