I've learned something new last month and now Penny (the van) has turned into a drying chamber ^^
I love learning about wild herbs and edible plants, but it's not a primary topic at the moment, so I don't recognize a lot yet.
But last month on the Rainbow Gathering I've learned what sage plants look like and also some new ways of using it :)
It's growing in abundance in this area, so of course I gathered some, climbing around on the steep slope close to where we had parked the van.
I then made loose bundles of four to six plants, depending on the size of their stem and hung them in the van to dry.
Our van is quite the chaos zone actually (too much stuff, too little space) so it was a little challenge to find places where the bundles are not in the way.
But I think I've managed quite well, my man has not complained so far ^^
I always liked drinking sage tea when I had a sore throat (with a lot of honey hehe), but now we're using it primarily for smoking (which is funny, now that I think about it ^^).
Anyway, sage is a wonderful thing to mix with tobacco or smoke pure even. It tastes great and smells even greater! :)
But since this Rainbow Gathering in Albania was about healing, smoking wasn't the most common thing to do.
But burning incenses is!
And I've learned a new way of doing this: You can make very tight bundles of sage leaves, dry them for a few days and then burn it and enjoy the smell and the spirit.
I didn't know this was so common that you can even order those online, until I was looking for a nice picture ^^
I had been burning sage before, but actually didn't know much about it. I just enjoyed the smell of it, how it calmed me down and changes the energy in the room.
On the Rainbow someone told me it's used to "clear the aura", which leaves a lot of space for interpretation, but probably is what I already felt.
So now we have a lot of sage hanging from the cupboards, mirrors and curtains ^^
I'm sure certain plants appear in our lives for a reason, just when we need it. Even though we weren't aware of it before.
When I think about last month and all that has happened, all the inner challenges I had to face, I'm very glad and grateful that the sage came to me during that time.
I can't put my finger on it but I'm sure it played its part and worked its magic somehow :)
Thank you for reading <3
