At A Lonely Beach | Travel Diary Albania

We moved on.

We've spent the last few days together with my parents at a nice but quite crowded beach. It could have been much worse though. I'm sure the place is packed with people during the summer season and compared to that it was empty.

But after a while I always get tired of having people around me all the time and feel the urge to spend some time out in nature again.

So the day before yesterday we said good-bye to my parents for now and drove a bit further down the Albanian coast.

Fortunately here in Albania one can still find beaches that are not yet full of hotels, restaurants and tourists.

This will probably change in the next 10 years, should Albania and its 400 km coastline become more popular, but for now the beach we just found still belongs to the locals (and the lucky traveller in a van ^^).

These little cabins and shelters are the only buildings at the beach.

These cabins are all abandoned now, but I guess they're some kind of beach bar during the summer season, when the locals spend their holidays and weekends here.

Now in mid September the only people at the beach are a few fishermen, jogger and occasionally someone walking their dog.

We really couldn't have found a quieter place.

It's so quite really that my inner voices are getting louder again.

Since we're here I felt a lot of old emotions pop up again, insecurities and fears that obviously need to be recognized and looked into again.

Especially while travelling you never know when a certain topic pops up again and often it's not at the most convenient moment. But I've learned that all things happen at the right time, so I try to see the silence around me as a chance to look into myself again.
