The day after the storm.
A terrible snowfall the day before covered everything with snow. Although the city was decorated with lights and garlands, the cold and snow made people run from the street into the warmth. We rented a wonderful hotel in the city, named after a very famous historical figure who left a mark on the history of Russia. This man's name was Kuzma Minin.
The word Minin today is perceived as his surname. But in those distant times of the beginning of the 17th century, this man was the son of his father, whose name was Mina. This, by the way, is the first Christian name. One of the Egyptian pharaohs who converted to Christianity had such a name.
And in the 17th century, citizen Minin and Prince Pozharsky led the militia, which decided the fate of Russia in times of troubles.
But I digress.
When I woke up at the hotel and looked outside, the sun was shining outside the window. It was a clear day. Outside the window, under the ice, flowed the Oka River. The world was beautiful.
Everything is like in Pushkin's poems.
After a delicious breakfast, we set off on the long journey home to Kostroma. But going out into the street, I could not resist taking a few photos of Nizhny Novgorod in the morning.
I wish I had a lot of time to shoot, because the city was very beautiful. But I needed to get home faster. I hoped that there would be beautiful views along the way ...
