Beach in Sithonia, Halkidiki, Greece

It's raining here. The spring sun gave way to cloudy and rainy weather. Forecasters promise improvement in the weather only by the end of this week.

After such news, I really want to go to the beach under the hot sun. So that a warm breeze gently blows around the body and does not allow to suffer from heat.

I remembered Vourvourou Beach. This place is located in Greece on the peninsulas of Halkidiki. The beach is located in the village located on the east coast of Sithonia, Halkidiki. This settlement is called Vourvourou, and the beach is also called.

We arrived at this place by accident. We traveled around the Halkidiki peninsulas and studied what is interesting there.

The name Halkidiki comes from the name of the large Greek city of Chalkida, who founded a colony in this area at the beginning of the X century BC. e. The entire peninsula was called Halkidiki at a later time. The first ever mention of Halkidiki is found in Herodotus in the descriptions of the Persian wars. Aristotle was born in Halkidiki.

The Halkidiki Peninsula consists of three peninsulas - fingers. These are the peninsulas: Kassandra, Sithonia and Athos.

On Athos is the world famous Orthodox monastery. This is where a large number of pilgrims from Russia come.

The Kassandra Peninsula is the westernmost of the three, more equipped for a comfortable modern life. There are many hotels and generally well developed tourism and beach holidays.

The middle finger is Sithonia. This peninsula is calmer in terms of a large number of vacationers, but has a large number of beautiful bays and beaches.

We went along the coastline to find an interesting beautiful place. And so, in one small village we approached the sea and saw a very interesting place.

The sandy beach is bounded by large stones that are corroded by the sea, wind and sun. The stones were bizarre in shape. The greenish waters of the sea looked very beautiful next to these stones.

Coniferous trees grew around the beach. Pine and juniper seems.

The smell in the air was just amazing.

Despite the fact that these were the first days of May, the water in the sea was already quite warm to swim.

It was that very Vourvourou beach. Strange name. But being on this beach was a pleasure. I really want to go back there, sit on the sand and look at the sea.
