Photo for the calendar

Today there will be only one photo post. The truth behind this photo is a whole big story. I have a client who asked me to make a 2021 calendar for him. This is a regular quarterly calendar and nothing special about it, except for the top ad banner.

I make such calendars for this company every year and for a long time. The theme of the picture on the top banner should be dedicated to the roads of the Kostroma region. Not cars, not distances, but roads.

Every time I search my archives for photos about roads in our area. This time the customer asked me to find something about our Kostroma bridge across the Volga. But he would like the bridge to be photographed from above and the road loop visible.

On the banks of the Volga there is a large hotel building called "Volga". It is a large building and I decided to find an opportunity to take photographs from a high point of this building. I found contacts that gave me the phone number of one of the hotel's security officers. I arranged a visit and was shown to the last technical floor of this skyscraper. There is an open observation deck and I settled there to take a photo of the bridge.

Another problem was that there was nowhere to mount the tripod. It was a little scary to come close to the edge of the building, because there was snow and it was not clear that underfoot the height was so great that I wanted to hold on to something. In short, a small technical problem that I was able to solve was the overkill of fear and inconvenience.

That's not all. To my misfortune, a dense fog fell over the Volga. The bridge faded into fog. But I needed this photo and decided that I could fix it in a photo editor.
