My wife and I set out from Texas to Florida in April 2021 and we stopped over in Mobile Bay, Alabama. Then we stopped at Lake Talquin, Florida. We were in each location for just one night, but we enjoyed our stay in both places.

Mobile Bay was a bit more upscale. An RV park with a beautiful view of the Gulf of Mexico, we discovered something about ourselves in the process. The journey was not just a travel diary of ups and downs between two states. We had friends, even if they were only of the wild kind. Wild as in snakes, alligators, and geese.

At any rate, there's more to life than smiles and kisses, although smiles and kisses are nice. Especially with the one you love.

In Talquin, Florida, we stayed in the woods. It wasn't luxury. It was deep woods living/camping. Peaceful, quiet, and communing with nature in the raw. We nearly freaked out at the alligator we saw swimming across the lake. But the lake was beautiful, with or without the alligator. We'd go back in a heartbeat.

After Lake Talquin, we made our way to Orlando and stayed a few nights at a city park. We still live in our van. And we plan to live in our campervan for a while. Next year, we'll make our way from Texas to Pennsylvania and back again.

Watch the video and see if you see our friend swimming toward the island. We saw him and we're glad we did.
