Hello, my dear Steemians!

So far 2019 has been a busy, but amazing year. There were many changes occurring in my professional activity, but whenever changes are required, new opportunities become available.

Since the first days of 2019, I wanted to travel and explore more. And all ended up as being a roller-coaster year with many trips for both leisure and work.

One of my early escapes this year was in Southern Italy, covering Bari, Matera and Alberobello. This time, I will only focus on Bari and I will definitely share my thoughts on the other two locations in my next articles.

Bari, Italy

March 2019
A port city on the Adriatic Sea and the capital of the Puglia region, Bari is a charming and typical Italian town, offering superb views and colourful buildings.

Magnificent buildings can be admired everywhere in downtown, a testimony of the mastery of Italian architects. Some of the buildings are sumptuous and have light colours, while others keep the warm aspect of Southern Europe architecture by having vivid colours nicely fitted in with old stylish edifices.

The city has his own fortress, a beautiful castle, well preserved known as Castello Svevo (Swabian Castle). It was built by Roger II of Sicily around 1131, however it got destroyed in 1156 and subsequently rebuilt by Frederick II of Hohenstaufen. Nowadays, it serves as an exhibition pavilion.

Paved streets can be seen everywhere. As you approach the port aria, they become narrower.

And let's not forget about their famous Big Ferris wheel installed on the waterfront of Bari, which offers spectacular views over the city and harbor.
