You know how it is. It seems that you have explored the whole country along and across, and suddenly — during an ordinary trip from point A to point B — you discover a place that you never knew about.
This is what happened to me in July 2018, when I once again traveled around Greece. I was driving a car from Trikala to Arta when I suddenly noticed a small road sign in the bushes by the road. Καταρράκτες. This word was one of the first Greek words I ever learned! :)
Katarráktes. Waterfalls.
Without hesitation, I turned onto a secondary road and after a couple of minutes, I reached a place that I never knew about.

Without hesitation, I turned onto a secondary road and after a couple of minutes, I reached a place that I never knew about.
When I arrived at the site, I saw that this is not just a waterfall. It turns out that one of the old stone bridges that I so like is here.
As I learned later, this place was built in the 16th century. A single-arch stone bridge was erected between high cliffs, and an artificial waterfall was created on the river. Stunning scenery, isn't it? I guess so. :)
As you can see, there is a small pond under the bridge. Great place for walking on the water! It was there that I met this couple and their dog.

These good people were totally fine with my presence with the camera and I took pictures of them with pleasure!
At first, the dog was rather suspicious of my movements, but later lost interest in me.
It seemed to me that the dog was a little sad...
It was a bright sunny day.
Green trees, stone bridge and cliffs, and turquoise water created an image of a stunning corner of nature that you do not want to leave.

Sometimes I regret that I am not a very good photographer. It was necessary to take a tripod at least. Maybe then, my photos looked more interesting. :)
The arch of the bridge.
By the way, the bridge is in excellent condition.
If you go back to the main road and drive westwards three hundred meters, you will find a path leading directly to the bridge.
The walk will not take long. The bridge offers views of a small gorge where the river flows.

When I was preparing this post, I saw a quote about this place on one of the Internet sites: «The Palaiokarya's stone bridge is a monument from the past, perfectly harmonized with the natural scenery around it». I could not have said it better myself.
I spent several hours here ... This is an amazingly beautiful place for all nature lovers. I would like to come back here at a different time of year.
