In 2007, I first got experienced with the roads, countryside, and winter weather of Bashkiria. This was not a preplanned trip, I just had to get to a place called Novobelokatay. The trip took a whole day, despite the fact that I never got to Novobelokatay. :) However, this is another story.

Bashkiria — officially known as the Republic of Bashkortostan — is the first ethnic autonomous entity in Russia and one of the most beautiful regions of the Southern Ural. I have a lot of photos from traveling around Bashkiria, but today I would like to share my very first shots taken in the harsh Ural winter of 2007.

As I recall, it was a difficult trip. The weather was very cloudy. The whole sky was covered with low, dense clouds, and even in the middle of the day it was quite dark. I was not very comfortable driving, despite the fact that there were very few other vehicles on the roads. At that time, I had a little driving experience. Besides, I tried to take pictures!

In those days, I was just starting out in photography, so, honestly, my old photos are unlikely to have any artistic value. So I selected the best shots in my opinion, and decided to make them as postcards in the Polaroid style.

I hope you like it!

The picture below shows a billboard with words written in the title of the post. Bashkortostan is a land of friendship. It is true. Bashkiria is one of the most hospitable regions of Russia. It has all the necessary infrastructure for traveling by car: hotels, guest houses and campsites, eateries, cafes, etc. There is a very beautiful nature, picturesque national parks, nature reserves and many other sights. In future posts, I will repeatedly return to publications about Bashkiria. :)

Thanks for stopping by my blog.
