Auf meiner Reise quer durch Afrika durfte ich auch die Bekanntschaft mit einem Chamäleon machen.
Ja, es kam einfach so auf einen Kaffee vorbei...😜🙃😇
Gerade saß ich unter dem Schatten spendenden Baum, als an dem Liegestuhl , auf dem ich verweilte, dass liebe Chamäleon entlang lief...
In den Europäischen Regionen wird dieses äußerst faszinierende Tier eher eingefangen und als „Haustier“ verkauft. Hinter Glas bestaunen es dann die Menschen.
Doch welch Schönheit es in freier Natur ist, kann man schwer beschreiben.
Die Chamäleons oder auch Chamaeleonidae, dass Wort stammt aus dem griechischen „χαμαιλέων“ und bedeutet soviel wie „Erdlöwe“ gehören zur Familie der Leguanartigen innerhalb der Schuppenkriechtiere (Squamata).
Es heißt, dass es über 200 Arten gibt,die sich wiederum in zwei Unterfamilien aufteilen lassen:
Die Echten Chamäleons, welche „Chamaeleoninae“ genannt werden und die Stummelschwanzchamäleons, oder auch „Brookesiinae“ genannt.
Man kann schon sagen, dass so gut wie alle Chamäleons in ihrem natürlichen Lebensraum gefährdet sind.
Der aller erste Fund eines fossiles nachgewiesenen Vertreters der Chamäleons ist der sogenannte „Chamaeleo caroliquarti“, eine Spezies, die vor ca. 26 Millionen Jahren in Zentraleuropa existierte und sich ebenso in die noch existierende Gattung des Chamaeleos einordnen lässt.
Es besteht die Möglichkeit, dass dieser Fund bzw. die Spezies entschieden älter ist und sich sogar zu Beginn der Oberen Kreidezeit, also vor ca. 100 Millionen Jahren, von der Linie ihrer nächsten Verwandten, der Agamen, abgespaltet hat.
Der genaue Entstehungsort dieser Art ist bislang noch unbekannt, jedoch ist Madagaskar, als evolutionärer Geburtsort dieser Gattung am wahrscheinlichsten.

The chameleons or Chamaeleonidae, that word comes from the Greek "χαμαιλέων" and means something like "Erdlöwe" belong to the family of the iguanas within the scale animals (Squamata).
It is said that there are over 200 species, which in turn can be divided into two subfamilies: The real chameleons, which are called "Chamaeleoninae" and the stub-tailed chameleons, or also called "Brookesiinae". One can say that almost all chameleons are endangered in their natural habitat.
The first ever find of fossil proven representative of the Chameleons is the so-called "Chamaeleo caroliquarti", a species that existed in Central Europe about 26 million years ago and can also be classified in the still existing genus of Chamaeleos.
There is a possibility that this find or species may be much older and even split off from its closest relative, the Agamen, at the beginning of the Upper Cretaceous, about 100 million years ago.
The exact place of origin of this species is still unknown, but Madagascar is most likely as the evolutionary birthplace of this genus.

En mi viaje a través de África, también se me permitió conocer a un camaleón. Sí, sólo vino a tomar un café... 😜🙃😇 Ahora mismo estaba sentado bajo la sombra del árbol, mientras la chaise longue sobre la que me quedaba pasaba el querido Camaleón....
En las regiones europeas, este fascinante animal es más bien capturado y vendido como "mascota". Detrás de los cristales, la gente se maravillará. Pero es difícil describir la belleza que hay en la naturaleza.
Los camaleones o Chamaeleonidae, esa palabra proviene del griego "χαμαιλέων" y significa algo así como "Erdlöwe" y pertenece a la familia de las iguanas dentro de los animales a escala (Squamata).
Se dice que hay más de 200 especies, que a su vez se pueden dividir en dos subfamilias: Los verdaderos camaleones, que se llaman "Chamaeleoninae" y los camaleones de cola corta, o también llamados "Brookesiinae". Se puede decir que casi todos los camaleones están en peligro en su hábitat natural.
El primer hallazgo de fósiles representativos de los camaleones es el llamado "Chamaeleo caroliquarti", una especie que existió en Europa Central hace unos 26 millones de años y que también puede clasificarse en el género Chamaeleos, aún existente.
Existe la posibilidad de que este hallazgo o especie sea mucho más antiguo e incluso se separe de su pariente más cercano, el Agamen, al inicio del Cretácico Superior, hace unos 100 millones de años.
Todavía se desconoce el lugar exacto de origen de esta especie, pero es muy probable que Madagascar sea el lugar de nacimiento evolutivo de este género.
