Sapa to bardzo turystyczna, górska miejscowość, leżąca na północ od Hanoi. Można dojechać autem, pociągiem lub autobusem. My wybraliśmy ostatnią opcję, czyli sławny "sleeping bus".

Sapa is a very touristy mountain town located north of Hanoi. You can get there by car, train or bus. We chose the latter option, namely the famous ‘sleeping bus’.

Wyjazd był o 22.00 z Hanoi a na miejscu mieliśmy być o 4 rano. Nasz gospodarz w Sapie zaproponował, że możemy skorzystać z opcji wcześniejszego zameldowania (20$ za pokój ze śniadaniem). Po przeanalizowaniu plusów i minusów stwierdziliśmy, że się zdecydujemy na tę opcję. Fajnie będzie chwilę się przespać, wziąć prysznic i na spokojnie zabrać się za zwiedzanie.

The departure was at 10 p.m. from Hanoi and we were supposed to arrive at 4 a.m. Our host in Sapa suggested that we could take advantage of the early check-in option ($20 per room with breakfast). After weighing the pros and cons, we decided to go for it. It would be nice to get some sleep, take a shower and then start sightseeing at a leisurely pace.

A wracając do autobusu, to bilety kupowałam z wyprzedzeniem przez stronę internetową 12go.asia. Minusem było to, że nie mogłam wybrać miejsc, a wszędzie czytałam, że najlepiej na dole. Wiedziałam, że nie chcę kupować biletów najtańszych, gdzie są 3 rzędy łóżek w autobusie, tylko zależało mi na osobnej kabinie. Nie wiedziałam, jakiego przewoźnika wybrać, bo jest tam ich cała masa, więc kierowałam się zdjęciami i opiniami. Ostatecznie zdecydowałam się na Green Sapa Bus. Za 2 bilety zapłaciłam 37,77 EUR. Oczywiście można było też taniej. Niestety nie było opcji z możliwością odwołania. Mając już pewne doświadczenie, to chyba bym zdecydowała się kupić bilety na miejscu, ponieważ ja lubię mieć swobodę w razie zmiany planów. Ale też lubię nie tracić czasu na organizowanie wszystkiego podczas wakacji.

Returning to the bus, I purchased tickets in advance through the website 12go.asia. The downside was that I couldn't choose my seats, and everywhere I read that it was best to sit at the back. I knew I didn't want to buy the cheapest tickets, where there are three rows of beds on the bus, but I wanted a separate cabin. I didn't know which carrier to choose because there are so many of them, so I went by the photos and reviews. In the end, I decided on Green Sapa Bus. I paid EUR 37.77 for two tickets. Of course, it was possible to find cheaper tickets. Unfortunately, there was no option to cancel. With some experience under my belt, I think I would have decided to buy tickets on the spot, because I like to have the freedom to change my plans. But I also like not to waste time organising everything during my holidays.

Przed odjazdem dostałam wiadomość na WhatsAppa, w której była podana lokalizacja odjazdu autobusu, trochę inna niż miałam podaną podczas zakupu biletu. Generalnie WhatsApp jest bardzo użyteczny do kontaktu zarówno z hotelami jak i przewoźnikami.

Przed wejściem do autobusu trzeba ściągnąć buty. Duży plecak poszedł do luku, mniejszy wzięłam ze sobą. Oczywiście czytałam wcześniej opowieści o tym, że klima w tych autobusach jest porządna, więc zabrałam bluzę, chustę, skarpetki. Na wyposażeniu był też koc. W moim odczuciu był czysty i uprany, bo też różnie opinie widziałam.

Before boarding the bus, you have to take off your shoes. I put my large rucksack in the luggage compartment and took the smaller one with me. Of course, I had read stories about how the air conditioning in these buses is quite strong, so I took a sweatshirt, a scarf and socks with me. There was also a blanket on board. In my opinion, it was clean and washed, because I had seen different opinions about it.

Dostaliśmy butelkę wody i można było ładować telefon, co nie jest takie oczywiste. Na łóżku był też pas do przypięcia, więc na wszelki wypadek się przypięłam, żeby nie znaleźć się piętro niżej.
Czy da się spać? Da. Chociaż podczas tej podróży za dużo nie spałam. Po pierwsze byłam chyba za bardzo podekscytowana, po drugie podróż trwała za krótko, a po trzecie, to było jednak dość zimno pomimo kocyka. W autobusie nie było toalety, ale kierowca zatrzymał się na jakimś parkingu i można było skorzystać za drobną opłatą. Jak na mój gust to dość często się zatrzymywał, ale ponoć zabierał jeszcze po drodze jakieś pakunki. Wiadomo, nie można mieć pustych przebiegów. Nie mam pojęcia czy wszystkie kabiny były zajęte.

We were given a bottle of water and could charge our phones, which is not always a given. There was also a safety belt on the bed, so I fastened it just in case, to avoid ending up on the floor below.
Is it possible to sleep? Yes. Although I didn't sleep much during this trip. Firstly, I think I was too excited, secondly, the journey was too short, and thirdly, it was quite cold despite the blanket. There was no toilet on the bus, but the driver stopped at a car park and you could use one for a small fee. For my taste, he stopped quite often, but apparently he was picking up some parcels along the way. Obviously, you can't have empty runs. I have no idea if all the cabins were occupied.

Udało mi się w końcu zasnąć, ale w nocy obudził mnie dziwny dźwięk. Sprawdzam na telefonie, gdzie jesteśmy. Wyszło mi, że 17 km od miejsca docelowego, ale ponieważ kręta droga to jakaś godzina jazdy. No dobra, tylko dlaczego stoimy tyle czasu i co to za dźwięk... Okazało się, że kierowca... uwaga, uwaga... mył autobus.

I finally managed to fall asleep, but during the night I was woken up by a strange noise. I checked our location on my phone. It turned out we were 17 kilometres from our destination, but because the road was winding, it would take about an hour to get there. Okay, but why were we standing still for so long and what was that noise... It turned out that the driver... wait for it... was washing the bus.

Potem przespałam cały ten fragment podróży z zakrętami. Obudziłam się koło 4.30. Autobus stoi. Wszyscy śpią. Znowu sprawdzam lokalizację, wyszło, że jesteśmy w Sapie. Tylko dlaczego kierowca jak dojechał na miejsce, to nikogo o tym nie poinformował? Czy był tak uprzejmy i nie chciał nikogo budzić? Tylko, że my mieliśmy zapłacone za wygodne łóżko, więc najchętniej byśmy się tam jak najszybciej przenieśli. Obudziłam B i mówię, że jesteśmy na miejscu i wysiadamy.
Wysiadamy. Tak, jasne. Tylko jak. Kierowcy nie ma, autobus zamknięty. Wszyscy śpią.
I tak stoimy przy tym pustym miejscu za kierownicą i zastanawiamy się, gdzie on poszedł. W tym samym czasie widzę, jak ktoś już wyciąga wszystkie bagaże z luku. Kierowca nie wiadomo gdzie. Wszyscy śpią.
Nagle, ktoś wstaje z łóżka na dolnym piętrze. Zaspany kierowca coś mamrocząc pod nosem otwiera w końcu drzwi. Wysiadamy, bierzemy bagaże. Wszyscy śpią.
Po powrocie do Polski czytałam gdzieś, że komuś też przytrafiła się taka sytuacja, że kierowca dojechał na miejsce i nikogo nie poinformował. Jakbym nie miała wykupionego wcześniejszego zameldowania, to pewnie byłoby mi to na rękę.

Then I slept through the entire winding part of the journey. I woke up around 4:30 a.m. The bus is stationary. Everyone is asleep. I check the location again and see that we are in Sapa. But why didn't the driver inform anyone when he arrived? Was he being polite and didn't want to wake anyone up? But we had paid for a comfortable bed, so we wanted to get there as soon as possible. I woke up B and told her that we had arrived and were getting off.
We get off. Yeah, right. But how? The driver is gone, the bus is locked. Everyone is asleep.
So we stand there by the empty driver's seat and wonder where he went. At the same time, I see someone taking all the luggage out of the luggage compartment. The driver is nowhere to be found. Everyone is asleep.
Suddenly, someone gets up from their bed on the lower deck. The sleepy driver mumbles something under his breath and finally opens the door. We get off and take our luggage. Everyone is asleep.
After returning to Poland, I read somewhere that someone else had also experienced a situation where the driver arrived at the destination and did not inform anyone. If I hadn't booked an early check-in, it would probably have suited me.

Pierwsze co, to postanowiliśmy zamówić taksówkę przez Graba. W tym czasie już kilka osób zapytało się czy potrzebujemy taxi, a jedna pani czy potrzebujemy przewodnika na trekking.
"No, thank you". Jak się później okazało, było to najczęściej używane przez nas zdanie podczas naszego pobytu w Sapie.
