Initially, the square in front of the administrative building on Moskovsky Prospekt, to which Leninsky Prospekt, Tipanova Street and Lensoveta Street go, had no name.
October 28, 1968 it was called the Moscow. Then they gave the name of the new metro station - "Moscow" (by the name of the square).
The Moscow area is the largest in area (13 hectares) area in St. Petersburg.
The area consists of two squares:
- The Southern Grove;
- Northern Grove .
Moscow Square was transformed in 2006, when it was built one of the largest fountain complexes of St. Petersburg. Sorry the weather is again rainy Piterskaya. When the sun was more fun. The name of the fountains is a symphony of silver water. From one name the spirit captures. It is immediately understandable that not only money but also soul was invested in this complex. The former governor left a good memory, making such a gift to the city.
"Symphony of silver water
To you, my city -
As a sign of love high ...
Let, as before,
Will be indivisible
Yours and our common destiny! "
This complex was built on the initiative of the Governor of St. Petersburg V.I. Matvienko and others (architectural studio AV Melnichenko).
Now it is a favorite place for recreation of citizens, primarily young people: skate (for them special "slides" are arranged), rollers, bicycles. Flash mobs like "water battle in St. Petersburg", when the participants, armed with water pistols, spray guns and watering cans, recall a carefree childhood.
Of course, this is a great place to meet loving couples and friends.
