Hi there my Steemian friends and followers!

After submitting my entry to the Hand Model Competition yesterday (you might want to check this thing out, it´s fun!), I am going to participate in another cool contest today too.

This one, however, is regular and has been around for almost a year now. It´s the legendary People Photography challenge run by our and only Chris aka @worldcapture.

My entry for this week´s round will take us to the tiny Maltese island of Gozo where I happened to witness this scene in spring 2014.

Just like with this entry that I submitted in one of the previous rounds of the challenge, I am not really sure what exactly is going on in the photo but as far as I remember, it was some Catholic tradition observed on Easter.

The photo was taken in Xaghra, a picturesque little town located on the northern coast of the Maltese island of Gozo. The magnificent church that the procession is coming from is the Basilica of the Nativity of Our Lady, a beautiful Roman Catholic parish church that was built between the years 1815 and 1855.

The town of Xaghra is also known for being home to the renowned megalithic temples of Ggantija that date back to as early as 3600 BC. Just outside of the town, among the majestic cliffs overlooking the nearby Ramla Beach, there is also the Calypso Cave where, according to an ancient legend, Calypso the Nymph kept Odysseus (the main hero of Homer's epic poem the Odyssey) for seven years.

Thanks for hosting the People Photography challenge, @worldcapture! :)
