Probably not everyone knows this, but Krakow is full of old quarries. Even during World War II, there were active quarries such as Liban and Zakrzówek, approximately 2-3 kilometers from the city center. Currently, there is probably only some mining work taking place in Bodzów, approximately 6 kilometers west of the city. And what is happening in these quarries today? Well, nothing! Only in Zakrzówek, due to the fact that the mining deposits from Zakrzówek have exceeded the groundwater level and Zakrzówek has become a very popular swimming spot for Krakow's inhabitants, every summer it is visited by large crowds who want to cool down a little. All remaining former quarries are now overgrown with wild vegetation, and such a place with very calcareous soil and very good sunlight favors the appearance of plants found nowhere else. So, on the map of Krakow you can find 5 no longer operational quarries and these are the quarries of Bodzów, Bogucianka, Liban, Mydlniki and Zakrzówek.
Today I would like to invite you to a photographic report from the April visit to the Bodzów quarry. During it, I managed to find the following flowers in the grass:

Pewnie nie każdy o tym wie, ale Kraków jest pełen dawnych kamieniołomów. Jeszcze w okresie II Wojny Światowej w odległości około 2 – 3 kilometrów od centrum miasta były czynne kamieniołomy takie jak Liban czy Zakrzówek. Obecnie chyba tylko w oddalonym o około 6 kilometrów na zachód od miasta Bodzowie trwają jakieś prace wydobywcze. A co się dzieje dzisiaj w tych kamieniołomach? Otóż nic! Jedynie w Zakrzówku z racji tego, że pokłady wydobycia z Zakrzówka przekroczyły poziom wody gruntowej i Zakrzówek stal się bardzo popularnym kąpieliskiem dla krakowian to każdego lata odwiedzają go prawdziwe tłumy chcące się choć trochę schłodzić. Wszystkie pozostałe dawne kamieniołomy obecnie porastają dzika roślinnością, a takie miejsce, gdzie mamy bardzo wapienna glebę i bardzo dobre nasłonecznienie sprzyja pojawianiu się niespotykanych nigdzie indziej roślin. Tak więc na mapie Krakowa doszukać się można 5 nieczynnych już kamieniołomów i są to kamieniołomy Bodzów, Bogucianka, Liban, Mydlniki i Zakrzówek.
Dzisiaj zapraszam na relacje fotograficzną z kwietniowej wizyty w kamieniołomie Bodzów. Podczas niej udało mi się znaleźć w trawie następujące kwiaty:
