There's nothing like a quick weekend City Break and it just so happened that last year we managed to do one of these. On Friday after work, like every week, I came home, changed, ate dinner and instead of sitting on the couch to rest, this time I started packing. That day, late at night, I had planned to take a bus to Budapest. The bus set off around midnight and, with great discomfort, brought us to the capital of Hungary in the early morning hours. Now, looking back, I have no idea where exactly we got off, but it was so early that there were no cafes open there yet, and after a night spent on the bus, a hearty coffee was essential! So we got on the metro and went to the very center of Budapest, to Ferenciek tere Square, because it was close to both McDonald's for coffee and the Danube bank. After drinking our coffee, we headed for the river. The city was completely deserted, but that's no wonder, it was Saturday and the clock wasn't even 7 o'clock yet. It's not often that you can sit right in front of the Széchenyi Lanchíd Chain Bridge in Budapest and not be surrounded by a crowd of tourists, but we have a saying in Poland that the early bird is the one who gets up early. We made a small mistake here, because we sat down under the bridge for too long and only at around 8 o'clock we set off in the next direction, namely to the Halászbástya Fishermen's Bastion. Since it takes a while to get to the bastion, when we got there the first tourists started to appear and that was our mistake. We could have easily been there half an hour earlier and sat in this incredibly beautiful place, with probably the most beautiful panorama of Budapest, completely alone. Next, we set off along the Danube towards the south and went to Budavári Palota, or the Royal Castle in Budapest. We were enchanted by the beautiful naturalistic plantings there, which is why we spent at least 30 minutes just photographing the flowers there. Continuing south, we reached another beautiful viewpoint, the Citadel. The access to this ruin of the citadel, which definitely dominates the city, winds steeply through a dense forest, but as we approach the top, beautiful viewpoints of the city begin to appear here and there. Although the hike there was quite physically demanding, we liked this place so much that we decided it was worth returning there in the evening for sunset. It was noon, so it was high time to head to our place of accommodation, because firstly, we were sleep-deprived, and secondly, our hotel stay was about to start, and we missed nothing more than a short afternoon nap.

Nie ma to jak szybki weekendowy City Break i tak się fajnie złożyło, że w poprzednim roku udało nam się taki jeden wypad zrobić. W piątek po pracy, jak co tydzień wróciłem do domu, przebrałem się, zjadłem obiad i zamiast usiąść na kanapie odpocząć, to wyjątkowo tym razem zacząłem się pakować. Tego dnia późno w nocy miałem zaplanowany wyjazd autobusem do Budapesztu. Autobus ruszył około północy i w wielkiej niewygodzie przywiózł nas do stolicy Węgier o wczesnych godzinach porannych. Teraz z perspektywy czasu nie mam najmniejszego pojęcia gdzie dokładnie wysiedliśmy, ale było tak wcześnie , że w tamtym miejscu nie działała jeszcze żadna kawiarnia, a po nocy spędzonej w autobusie, pożywna kawa była rzeczą niezbędną! Wsiedliśmy wiec do metra i udaliśmy się do samego centrum Budapesztu na plac Ferenciek tere, bo z stamtąd było blisko i do MacDonalda po kawę i na brzeg Dunaju.
Po wypiciu kawy ruszyliśmy nad rzekę. Miasto było kompletnie opustoszałe, ale nie ma się co temu dziwić, była przecież sobota a na zegarze nie było jeszcze nawet godziny 7. Nie często zdarza się siedzieć tuż przed Budapesztańskim mostem Łańcuchowym Széchenyi Lánchíd i nie być otoczonym tłumem turystów, ale mamy w Polsce takie powiedzenie, kto wcześnie wstaje, temu Pan Bóg daje. Tutaj zrobiliśmy mały błąd, bo rozsiedliśmy się zbyt długo pod mostem i dopiero około godziny 8 ruszyliśmy w dalszym kierunku, a mianowicie na Basztę Rybacką Halászbástya. Ponieważ na basztę chwile się idzie, to gdy doszliśmy w tamto miejsce, zaczęli pojawiać się tam już pierwsi turyści i to właśnie był nasz błąd. Bez problemu mogliśmy być tam pół godziny wcześniej i siedzieć w tym niesłychanie pięknym miejscu, z chyba najpiękniejszą panoramą Budapesztu kompletnie sami.
W dalszej kolejności ruszyliśmy wzdłuż Dunaju w kierunku południowym i poszliśmy na Budavári Palota czyli Zamek Królewski w Budapeszcie. Urzekły nas tam piękne nasadzenia naturalistyczne, przez co na samym fotografowaniu tamtejszych kwiatów spędziliśmy co najmniej 30 minut. Idąc dalej na południe weszliśmy na kolejny piękny punkt widokowy czyli pod Cytadelę. Dojście do tej zdecydowanie górującej nad miastem ruiny cytadeli wije się stromo po gęstym lesie, ale zbliżając się do szczytu zaczynają pojawiać się gdzieniegdzie piękne punkty widokowe na miasto. Mimo, że wyjście tam było dość wymagające fizycznie, to miejsce spodobało nam się tak bardzo, że uznaliśmy, ze warto tam wrócić pod wieczór na zachód słońca. Minęło południe, więc była najwyższa pora aby ruszyć do naszego miejsca noclegowego, bo po pierwsze byliśmy niewyspani, a po drugie już niebawem miała ruszyć nasza doba hotelowa, a o niczym nie tęskniliśmy tak jak o małej południowej drzemce.
