Today we took a walk in a not far away but very pretty village, Spedaletto. I love small villages and I'm lucky because living in Tuscany we have many small pretty villages close to home. Spedaletto was a place that I already knew because especially in summer many people go there to find refreshment since there is a very pretty lake nearby where you can fish. It is a town with very few inhabitants during the winter, about a hundred but much more populated in the summer. It has a very harsh winter climate, although it is not at a high altitude it is surrounded by mountains which make it a place where it often snows and is cold. It's about half an hour away from us but it's many degrees cooler than where we come from. In the summer there are many parties and festivals here and many events dedicated to fishing. We went here just to take a walk and see if there was a little snow, as soon as we arrived we immediately felt the cold and damp but we weren't discouraged. We parked and immediately entered the town, you enter the town which is really small, a handful of houses, a church with a tower, a bar and a refreshment room.

Hoy hemos dado un paseo por un pueblo no muy lejano pero muy bonito, Spedaletto. Me encantan los pueblos pequeños y tengo suerte porque al vivir en la Toscana tenemos muchos pueblos pequeños y bonitos cerca de casa. Spedaletto era un lugar que ya conocía porque sobre todo en verano mucha gente va allí a buscar refrigerio ya que cerca hay un lago muy bonito donde se puede pescar. Es un pueblo con muy pocos habitantes durante el invierno, alrededor de un centenar pero mucho más poblado en verano. Tiene un clima invernal muy duro, aunque no está a gran altura está rodeado de montañas lo que lo convierte en un lugar donde nieva mucho y hace frío. Está a aproximadamente media hora de nosotros, pero hace muchos grados menos que de donde venimos. En verano hay muchas fiestas y festivales aquí y muchos eventos dedicados a la pesca. Vinimos aquí solo para dar un paseo y ver si había un poco de nieve, nada más llegar sentimos enseguida el frío y la humedad pero no nos desanimamos. Aparcamos y enseguida entramos al pueblo, entras al pueblo que es realmente pequeño, un puñado de casas, una iglesia con una torre, un bar y un salón de refrescos.

The church is small and often closed, in fact we couldn't visit it, so we went to the town center where there were some craft stalls and the refreshment hall still all decorated for Christmas, it looked like the town of infinite Christmas, a true fairytale place . The town is divided in two by a stream and the thing that strikes me most about this place and which I also tried to capture with photos is the fact that the whole town is grey, every house and monuments are all grey. It is rare to find houses of another colour. Then it's really small and humid but it's very nice, the refreshment room is managed by two elderly people and it's really welcoming and warm. The name of the town itself derives from hospitality because Spedaletto is the diminutive of small hospital, so called because it was used to host lost or injured travellers. It was a pleasant walk but there was only a sprinkle of snow on a few roofs. However we had a good time, we had a hot coffee at the bar, visited the town a little and took some photos.

La iglesia es pequeña y muchas veces está cerrada, de hecho no pudimos visitarla, así que nos fuimos al centro del pueblo donde había algunos puestos de artesanía y el salón de refrescos todavía todo decorado para la Navidad, parecía el pueblo de la Navidad infinita, un verdadero lugar de cuento de hadas. El pueblo está dividido en dos por un arroyo y lo que más me llama la atención de este lugar y que también intenté capturar con fotos es el hecho de que todo el pueblo es gris, cada casa y monumentos son todos grises. Es raro encontrar casas de otro color. Luego es muy pequeño y húmedo pero es muy agradable, la sala de refrigerios está a cargo de dos personas mayores y es realmente acogedora y cálida. El nombre de la ciudad deriva de la hospitalidad, porque Spedaletto es el diminutivo de pequeño hospital, llamado así porque se utilizaba para acoger a los viajeros perdidos o heridos. Fue un paseo agradable, pero sólo había una pizca de nieve en algunos tejados. Sin embargo lo pasamos bien, tomamos un café caliente en el bar, visitamos un poco el pueblo y tomamos algunas fotos.
