#BoulderSunday created by @shasta
My #bouldersunday post is a photo taken while hiking at Cumberland Gap National Historic Park.
The Gap is situated near where Kentucky, Virginia, and Tennessee meet. It is a V-shaped notch in the Cumberland Mountains that has been used by wildlife, Native Indians, hunters, explorers and settlers trying to get through the mountains.
In 1775, Daniel Boone, along with 30 other men, were hired to blaze a trail, that became known as the Wilderness Road through Cumberland Gap. It became the main artery for pioneer migration into the wilderness for next 50 years.
