Hello friends, Welcome back to my travel blog. Today I decided to share various travel experience where I traveled largest island name called Delft in Sri Lanka. This is the trip to Jaffna after the war ended. I didn't want to be reminded, but it was a beautiful memory because of my desire to go back to Jaffna and visit Delft Island, the largest island in the world with human habitation, as far as India is concerned.

We boarded a train from Colombo and headed to Jaffna. From Jaffna, you can come to Kurikadduvan jetty and take the boat ride to Delft Island in about an hour.

As soon as we got out of the boat we could rent a vehicle. Delft Island is an ecosystem that has never been seen anywhere in Sri Lanka. Because we had to reach more places of this island.

There are only Tamil people living in Delft island. It is no secret that Jaffna is now considered the epicenter of Hindu Tamil culture in Sri Lanka. But archaeological and sociological evidence shows that the Sinhalese state power spread throughout Sri Lanka.

The walls of the coral reefs have become an integral part of every home and building. That's various architecture process of Sri Lanka.

The pigeon cage was the home of pigeons trained to send messages.

Both buildings are government sectors. They are doing good service for public people in Delft.

This is relaxation area. We could walk there. Also someone enjoyed with cycling. You can take bicycle for small fees like rent and walk around island.

The island covers an area of 50 square kilometers and is about 8 km long and 6 km wide. The plain is rich with scenic beaches and marshes. There is an unseen blank in the eye.

Can you guess how old is this tree? As my opinion over 150 years. That is a most biggest and oldest tree I have every seen. I heard previously this tree is Baiobab tree.

The island has sand and limestone soil. The island is characterized by numerous limestone slabs and spherical shape throughout the island. It is also remarkable that ancient buildings were built of limestone.

I saw there are more palm trees. Many parts of the island are covered with palm trees and forests. Grown palm trees are more abundant than palm trees. The toddy of the palm tree is a favorite drink of the Delft. Delft Island also produces a rich coconut plantation besides Palmyra.

A dry climatic pattern is characterized by a dry wind mixed with salt from the sea and the sun's heat for much of the day. Since limestone soil is spread all over the island, fountain water is of a bitter nature.

Although there are not many species on the island of Delft, cattle and goat herds are a common sight. The spectacular view of Delft Island is the swarm of a few species of wild ponies in open pastures and marshes. After spent 4 hours there we leaved from Delft island. I appreciate humanity of Delft peoples perfectly. Thanks for reading. See you again.
