Hallo liebe Community,
und weiter geht die wilde Fahrt. Heute nehme ich Euch mit auf unsere Erkundungstour des weltberühmten Fisherman’s Wharf und Pier 39. Beides zusammen vereint Hafenanlage, Uferpromenade und Rummelplatz :-)
Ein besonderes Highlight sind die Seelöwen, die täglich den Pier bevölkern und sich genüsslich in der Sonne wärmen. Ein tolles Spektakel, wenn man den Gestank ertragen kann. Denn nach Parfüm duften die nicht.
Man kann auch ein altes amerikanische U-Boot besichtigen und von hier hatten wir unseren ersten Blick auf die Golden Gate Bridge, die leicht durch den Nebel hinweg zu erkennen war.
Auch der Blick in die andere Richtung über die Hügel der Stadt ist nicht zu verachten.
Wer möchte kann eines der vielen Fahrgeschäfte ausprobieren und gerade für Kinder ist dies sicherlich traumhaft. Wobei die Preise deutlich überzogen sind, wie für so vieles was wir auf unserer Reise entdeckt haben.
Zum Mittagessen musste es dann natürlich Seafood geben, versteht sich von selbst. Eine Spezialität ist hier die Clam Chowder, eine Muschelsuppe, die sowohl an der Westküste als auch an der Ostküste gerne serviert wird. Diese isst man aus einem ausgehöhlten Brotlaib. Super lecker, da hätte ich mich reinlegen können und für 11,99 $ ein echtes Schnäppchen.
Cool war auch ein Steg, aus dessen Boden künstlicher Nebel in die Luft geblasen wurde. Dient zur Erfrischung an heißen Tagen und sieht in jedem Fall eindrucksvoll aus.
Für diesen Teil der Stadt muss man schon einen halben Tag einplanen, wenn man alles sehen möchte. Dies lässt sich ideal mit einem Ausflug auf die Gefängnisinsel Alcatraz verbinden, die man sicher gesehen haben muss, wenn man in San Francisco ist. Aber hiervon dann mehr in meinem nächsten Post.

and on goes the wild ride. Today I take you with us on our exploration of the world famous Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39. Both together combines port facility, waterfront and fairground :-)
A special highlight are the sea lions, which populate the pier daily and warm themselves with pleasure in the sun. A great spectacle, if you can stand the stench. Because they don't smell of perfume.
You can also visit an old American submarine and from here we had our first view of the Golden Gate Bridge, which was easy to see through the fog.
Also the view in the other direction over the hills of the city is not to be despised.
Who wants can try one of the many rides and especially for children this is certainly dreamlike. Whereby the prices are clearly exaggerated, as for so many things we discovered on our trip.
For lunch, of course, there had to be seafood, of course. A specialty here is the Clam Chowder, a clam chowder, which is served on the west coast as well as on the east coast. It is eaten out of a hollowed out loaf of bread. Super tasty, I could have dug into it and for $11.99 it was a real bargain.
Also cool was a jetty, from the bottom of which artificial fog was blown into the air. Serves to refresh on hot days and looks impressive in any case.
For this part of the city you have to plan half a day if you want to see everything. This can be ideally combined with a trip to the prison island Alcatraz, which you must certainly have seen if you are in San Francisco. But more about this in my next post.
