Waterfalls in the Zadnjica Valley (SLO)

Today I have been in the Zadnjica Valley in Slovenia. This valley is a starting point for hikes oto the highest mountain peaks in the Triglav National Park, where the Triglav Mountain with a height of 2,684 meters is the highest mountain in Slovenia and in the Julian Alps.

Heute war ich im Zadnjica Tal in Slowenien, das auch ein Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen auf die höchsten Gipfel des Triglav Nationalparks ist, wie zum Beispiel den Triglav, der mit 2.864 MeternHöhe der höchste Berg Sloweniens und der Julischen Alpen ist..

My goal today, however, was not a summit, but a small waterfall, or two waterfalls, and my hike was more of a walk because the journey to there took almost longer than the 4-5 hours I spent in the valley overall. But I also took a lot of photos, which took some time too.

Mein Ziel heute war aber kein Gipfel, sondern ein kleiner Wasserfall, beziehungsweise zwei Wasserfälle, und meine Wanderung war eher ein Spaziergang, weil die Anreise fast länger gedauert hat, als die 4-5 Stunden, die ich insgesamt unterwegs gewesen bin. Ich habe aber auch viel fotografiert, was auch eine Weile gedauert hat.

At turn 50 of the road over the Vršič pass you turn onto a gravel road into the Zadnjica valley. A few meters after the junction you can park on both sides of the gravel road. The path is easy and not steep and leads alongside the Krajcarica stream, which has many small waterfalls and cascades. The trees along the gravel road and the stream are partly overgrown with dense moss.

Direkt in der Kehre 50 der Straße über den Vršič Pass biegt man in das Zadnjica Tal auf eine Schotterstraße ab. Wenige Meter nach der Abzweigung kann man beidseitig der Schotterstraße parken. Der Weg ist gemütlich und nicht steil und führt neben dem Krajcarica Bach entlang, der viele kleine Wasserfälle und Kaskaden aufweißt. Die Bäume entlang des Weges und des Baches sind zum Teil von dichtem Moos überwachsen.

The path to the two waterfalls branches off to the left after a maximum of half an hour of walking. From there, continue up the forest path through the forest until you come to a material cable car. To the right of this is the stream with the waterfalls "Belopotoški Slap v Zadnjici", which can already be heard very loud.

Der Weg zu den beiden Wasserfällen zweigt nach höchstens einer halben Stunde nach links ab. Von dort geht es weiter über den Forstweg durch den Wald nach oben, bis man zu einer Materialseilbahn kommt. Rechts davon ist der Bach mit den Wasserfällen "Belopotoški Slap v Zadnjici", die man schon laut hören kann.

The easiest way to get to the lower waterfall (spodnji slap, 15 meters) is through or next to the streambed, depending on the water level, of course.

Zum unteren Wasserfall (spodnji slap, 15 Meter) kommt man am einfachsten durch das beziehungsweise neben dem Bachbett, je nach Wasserstand.

It is not so easy to reach the upper waterfall. To do this, first go past the cable car and follow the hiking trail to the Križ plateau (Karster rock plateau Kriški podi) for a few meters and in the first turn go straight. After a few meters you are above the lower waterfall and on the left a narrow, unsecured climb goes up to the second waterfall (zgornji slap, 4 meters). Then you have to climb a few meters down to the waterfall itself, which I would not really recommend from my own experience in winter because there is no safety device and the rocks can be very icy in places.

Den oberen Wasserfall kann man nicht so einfach erreichen. Zu diesem geht man zuerst an der Materialseilbahn vorbei und folgt dem Wanderweg zum Križ Plateau (Karster Felsplateau Kriški podi) für ein paar Meter und geht in der ersten Kehre geradeaus. Nach wenigen Metern ist man oberhalb vom unteren Wasserfall und links geht ein schmaler ungesicherter Steig nach oben zum zweiten Wasserfall (zgornji slap, 4 Meter). Zum Wasserfall selbst muss man dann noch ein paar Meter hinuntersteigen, was ich aus eigener Erfahrung im Winter nicht wirklich empfehlen würde, weil es keine Sicherung gibt, und die Felsen zum Teil stark vereist sein können.
