Today is #TBT Thursday, and this time I want to go back to August 2024, when I had the opportunity to know the Comuna 13 of Medellin in Colombia. That day was unique, we had no worries, we just had to enjoy the beauty that the city offered us, and although at the beginning this place did not call our attention, little by little we were captivated by its art and its impressive history. As the hours went by, we immersed ourselves in a sea of smiles and pleasant experiences in the place that was once the most dangerous neighborhood in South America.

¡Hoy es Jueves de #TBT!, y en esta ocasión quiero regresar a Agosto de 2024, cuando tuve la oportunidad de conocer la Comuna 13 de Medellín en Colombia. Ese día fue único, no teníamos ninguna preocupación, solo debíamos disfrutar de la belleza que nos ofrecía la ciudad, y aunque al inicio no nos llamó la atención este lugar, poco a poco nos fue cautivando por su arte y su impactante historia. Con el paso de las horas nos sumergimos en un mar de sonrisas y gratas experiencias en el lugar que alguna vez fue el barrió más peligroso de Sudamérica.

Upon arrival the place seems crazy because of so many people and colors that can be seen, besides there is a lot of noise and many motorcycles passing along with pedestrians and the most important and shocking, it is always a steep climb and being just a neighborhood the sun could be very harsh if it wanted, but there is so much good vibes in this place that it is impossible to feel bad. Everything is a party and people connected with wanting to have a good time, and I think the best way to enjoy this trip is to have some refreshing drink, in our case it was a delicious coconut lemonade ❤️

Al llegar el lugar parece una locura por tantas personas y colores que se pueden apreciar, además de haber mucha bulla y muchas motos transitando junto a los peatones y lo más importante e impactante, siempre es una subida muy pronunciada y al ser simplemente un barrio el sol podría ser muy inclemente si quisiera, pero hay tanta buena vibra en este lugar que es imposible sentirse mal. Todo es una fiesta y personas conectadas con querer pasar un buen rato, y creo que la mejor manera de disfrutar este viaje es tomarse alguna bebida refrescante, en nuestro caso fue una deliciosa limonada de coco ❤️

As I mentioned in a previous post, this neighborhood has many escalators, and that makes the trip more comfortable. It is inevitable to walk through the main streets without taking pictures. There are many places where art is displayed, stores to eat and drink, sculptures and a viewpoint where you can appreciate the magnitude of the neighborhood, part of the city and the mountains in the background that border Medellin. It is definitely very exciting and I think that one day is not enough to appreciate all that Comuna 13 has to offer.

Como mencioné en algún post anterior, este barrio tiene muchas escaleras eléctricas, y eso hace más cómodo el viaje. Es inevitable caminar por las calles principales sin tomarse fotografías. Hay muchos lugares donde se muestra arte, negocios para comer y beber, esculturas y un mirador donde se puede apreciar la magnitud del barrio, parte de la ciudad y las montañas al fondo que bordean a Medellín. Definitivamente es muy emocionante y creo que un solo día no es suficiente para apreciar todo lo que la Comuna 13 puede ofrecernos.

Our trip to Colombia left us with a lot of learning, first because of the situation that was happening in my country with the presidential elections and second because we went for a musical event that was not very successful. We were also in mourning, my father-in-law had only two weeks after his death and it was a challenge to travel to another nation when the voice expresses what we carry inside, and not winning a competition or not being a finalist is a heartbreaking feeling, but at the same time the gratitude had to come out, we were knowing other lands and breathing other airs and that is part of the magic of life that leaves you a learning that every moment we live. We do not know what the future holds, but we have to assume our journey with a lot of responsibility and take advantage of the positive and the negative of everything that happens to us.

Nuestro viaje a Colombia nos dejó mucho aprendizaje, primero por la situación que estaba ocurriendo en mi país con las elecciones presidenciales y segundo porque fuimos para evento musical que no fue muy exitoso. También estábamos de luto, mi suegro solo tenía dos semanas de haber fallecido y fue un reto viajar hasta otra nación cuando la voz expresa lo que llevamos por dentro, y no ganar en una competencia o no ser finalista es un sentimiento desgarrador, pero a la vez la gratitud tenía que salir a flote, estábamos conociendo otras tierras y respirando otros aires y esa es parte de la magia de la vida que te deja un aprendizaje que cada momento que vivimos. No sabemos que viene a futuro, pero tenemos que asumir nuestro viaje con mucha responsabilidad y aprovechar lo positivo y lo negativo de todo lo que nos ocurre.
