Hello and welcome to all travellers.

During the long weekend in the start of May'24. I and my 5 friends visited Tirana, Albania.

We started our journey on friday 3rd afternoon. We had booked a car to travel to the airport. It took us 3 hours to reach the bloody stanstead airport, pickups and mostly traffic.

Flight was on time and we reached Tirana. We had booked a 7 seater car. But when we arrived, the car was not as expected.

After lots of hassle we finally decided to take 2 small cars, 3 per car. All my friends drive, except me, so it was not an issue. We reached hotel very late in the night. Anyways, one good thing was the hotel was nice.

The next day, we did our breakfast, converted some dollars/pounds to local currency and then started our journey towards Berat to visit the castle. It took us 2+ hours to reach there.

Berat is a popular historic town in Albania containing a 13th century castle and some interesting museums.

The roads upto the castle are Medieval, stone paved.

After visting the castle, we went to have lunch in the town.

We thought we found a nice parking space, which actually wasn't. On return from lunch we found parking tickets on both of the cars as we had parked our cars in wrong spots.

We first decided to pay the fines in Tirana. But, few decided to pay it in berat and starting searching for police station to clear the tickets.

We found one but it was closed. But we did find another one and paid the fines.

After sorting the fines, we started our journey back to Tirana.

Later in the evening, we meet at the bar in the hotel. Some of us tried the local drink Raki, it was different but smooth.

After few drinks we went out for dinner, but most of the place was closed by then. We had pizza's as that was only thing available at that time of the night.

Anyways, a good first day.

Thanks for reading my post.

Have a nice day.
