Today, I have the pleasure of inviting you to learn about the personal exhibition 'Landscapes' by Abel Denis, at the Azagaya gallery located in the headquarters of the Union of Cuban Writers and Artists (Uneac) in the province of Ciego de Ávila, Cuba. It was held as part of the celebration for Cuban Culture Day, with artists and workers from various Cultural institutions. I hope you like the works and enjoy each of these landscape designs.

Hoy tengo el placer de invitarlos a conocer de la expo personal 'Paisajes', de Abel Denis, en la galería Azagaya localizada en la sede de la Unión de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba (Uneac) de la provincia Ciego de Ávila, Cuba. Fue efectuada como parte de la celebración por el Día de la Cultura Cubana, artistas y trabajadores de diversas instituciones de Cultura. Espero les gusten las obras y disfruten cada uno de esto diseños paisajísticos.

On my way from home to the art gallery, I took several photographs of my neighborhood and the streets leading to the exhibition. They all capture a typical day, with people heading to work or back home, old buildings, and a spectacular blue sky.
The exhibition you are about to see consists of 7 oil paintings and will be on display for the entire remaining month of November as part of the cultural activities in the province. In these works, the painter expresses a multitude of techniques, as well as the quality and originality with which the pieces were created.
Al salir de mi hogar, de camino a la galería de arte, pues realice varias tomas fotográficas de mi barrio y las calles para llegar a la exposición, todas de un día normal por el paso de personas hacia los trabajos o sus hogares, edificaciones antiguas y un cielo azul espectacular.
La muestra que observarán está conformada por 7 lienzos al óleo y permanecerá expuesta todo el mes restante de noviembre como parte de las actividades culturales en la provincia, donde el pintor expresan infinidad de técnicas, así como la calidad u originalidad con que fueron creadas las obras.
As you can see, these entranceways are very colonial and depict a very old city with a rich history to tell. Before we reach the city center, I should mention that this artist managed to convey light, shadows, and elements of the local vegetation in his paintings.
They convey a message of desolation and the passage of time, with derelict, unused, and abandoned boats. The absence of human figures in these frames expresses how the crisis is driving emigration, which is what is currently happening in the country amidst this terrible economic situation on the island.
Como pueden ver estos portales son muy coloniales y expresan una ciudad bien antigua con mucha historia que contar. Antes de llegar al centro, les mencionaré que este creador logró transmitir luz, sombras y elementos propios de la vegetación en sus cuadros.
Anunciando un mensaje de desolación y paso del tiempo, con embarcaciones desechas, en desuso, y abandonadas. La ausencia de seres humanos en estos marcos, expresa que la crisis genera emigración, y es lo que pasa actualmente con el país ante esta terrible situación económica de la isla.
Arriving at the traditional building of the Union of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC), we can see that it has been well preserved over the years. Its Azagaya gallery-lobby is located at the entrance, to the right.
This public space is a gem for young creators and artists from Ciego de Ávila.
Llegando a la edificación tradicional de la Unión de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba (UNEAC), podemos observar que se conserva a pesar de los años. Su galería-lobby Azagaya está ubicada en su entrada a la derecha.
Este espacio público es una joya para jóvenes creadores y artistas de nacionalidad avileña.
The architecture is elegantly designed, with high arches, classic details, and hallways filled with natural light. It opens its doors to the public from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm daily, showcasing the collection of tropical works.
La arquitectura está diseñada elegante, de altos arcos, detalles clásicos y pasillos llenos de luz natural. Abre sus puertas al público desde las 9:00 am a 4:00 pm todos los días mostrando la colección de obras tropicales.
The space also features a lounge to unwind from the daily routine with family, friends, or a partner, and to enjoy some drinks with appetizers.
Its stage is perfect for concerts, artistic galas, and even comedy shows. Personally, I like to come at night to listen to good Cuban music and dance.
El espacio presenta también un salón para relajarse del día a día en acompañia de familia, amigos o pareja y tomar algunos tragos con entrantes.
Su escenario es perfecto para conciertos, galas artísticas y hasta show humorísticos. A mi en lo personal me gusta venir de noche a oír buena música cubana y bailar.
Upon stepping into the gallery, the tranquility of the place is immediately noticeable. It offers a welcoming atmosphere where art and architecture come together to provide a unique experience in the city's historic center.
Al sumergirme dentro de la galería, se nota la tranquilidad del lugar. Ofrece un ambiente acogedor donde el arte y la arquitectura se unen para brindar una experiencia única en el casco histórico de la ciudad.
In this landscape vision of marine life without human beings, one perceives a realm composed only of boats, some still in use and others already decommissioned.
Sea, sand, rocks, some vegetation, and birds are the central characters of this work. They speak so eloquently of silence and natural sounds that human presence becomes unnecessary to convey the essence of life.
Ante la visión paisajística de la vida marina sin seres humanos, a uno le pareciera un ámbito compuesto solo por barcos en uso y otros ya desestimados.
Mar, arena, rocas, alguna vegetación y aves, son los personajes centrales de esta obra y dicen tanto del silencio y los ruidos naturales, que son innecesarios los hombres para transmitir la vida.
The sky, so brilliantly lit, seems almost dazzling. The blues, used in abundance, give us that delightful scent of hope and faith in the future. It seems the artist is fond of blue, which is why he uses it so extensively in his works.
And furthermore, he seems to have the material to do much more. I only hope the years do not diminish this dedication of his.
El cielo, de tan iluminado, pareciera encandilar. Los azules, empleados a mansalva, nos dan ese sabroso olor a esperanza y fe en el porvenir, al parecer al artista le gusta el azul, por eso emplea tanto en sus obras.
Y además parece tener material para hacer mucho más. Solo espero que los años no le quiten este empeño.
Now I see "La Piedra," that beautiful and historic place in Punta Alegre where I vacationed for many years; and all those boats that are now old and unusable. There are so many of them. They have given so much for every human life in the region.
Ahora veo La Piedra, ese lugar hermoso y con tanta historia en Punta alegre donde fui a vacacionar muchos años; y todos esos barcos que ya están viejos y son inutilizables. Son muchos. Han dado tanto por cada vida humana en la región.
So, the collection will be on display for two months in this place, which sees so many people passing through daily. The author, Denis, tells us that afterwards, it might spend some time at the Azagaya gallery.
