Hello weekend lovers,

It is museum time. I visited the rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, one of the most famous museums in the Netherlands. They started building it in 1876 and the opening of the new building was in 1885. The building was designed by the architect Pierre Cuypers.

I always love how different museums look. The building itself is also a museum piece it self.
Like the roof of the entrance. Its so light in here because of that roof and it looks stunning.

At first I tough that cube were lockers to keep your bag and stuff in there but it also is art. It's made by the artist Donald Judd and it is untitled.

Stairs are always a piece of art. The Rotterdam stairs.

There were two highlights for me. First one was the famous Cuypers library. It is the biggest and oldest art history library in the Netherlands.
There are over 450 thousand artifacts in this room! Here you can read everything about the art you can find in the museum and many many more!

The second one were these two paintings from Rembrandt. These are the last paintings from him that the Rijsmuseum bought, "Oopjen en Marten" made in 1634. They bought them together with the Louvre for 160 million euro's. These paintings will always stay together. Every 5 years they changes from location. I was lucky because a view weeks after my visit the paintings were moved to Paris and are now hanging in the Louvre in Paris for the next 5 years.

I love these colors. the way they changes is so cool. that must haven been a hell of a work to get those tones fade like that.

This was an awesome art installation. Infinity Mirror Room – Phalli’s Field from the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. I love these kind of art installations were you are standing in. You become part of the art. And I love taking pictures in here.

This is a small overview of my visit. I highly command this museum if you visit Amsterdam. But go there early in the morning, it is going to be busy later on the day.
