Hello feathered friends.

I made an awesome sighting during one of my trip to the Extremadura region in Spain.
I was traveling trough a nature area witch is famous along the birding community.

Nationaal park Monfragüe

And there a lot of bird watchers were looking for the black stork. Well, looking for, it was easy to see them because a couple of stork pairs were nesting in between the rocks of the mountain formations in the national park.

At first it was difficult to spot them while they were sitting on their nests but once in the air you couldn't miss them. The first picture is not the best one. it's not that sharp but I do like it because its against a dark back ground. That's the best way to so all the colors of the bird.

But they are quick. And it's difficult to capture them in flight. Here it was a bummer that the wing isn't in frame completely. Its just one small piece but still, it would have been awesome if I got this full in frame.

If they fly over you it's a bit easier to capture them but the back light makes the bird look way darker and the colors will fade away.

No worries, this one was flying behind the rock.

Just a small bit but the greenish color in the neck is visible here.

This couple had a quick meeting on top of this rock.

This is another couple doing the same. From here they are changing shifts of watching the nest.

It was difficult to take pictures of the nest. As you see in the dark hole in between the rocks, you see the red beak from the bird. And yes, if you really looked closely to this picture, you also see vultures nesting on the same rocks as the storks. But I will make a post about them next time.
