Hello! Allow me to take a short pause from writing about our road trip in New Zealand today. Instead, I would like to share with you a fishing village that we came across one fine morning in Ronda, Cebu, Philippines. My husband and I rode the scooter and found this remote yet serene beach on our way to visit a friend for coffee right before the pandemic kept us confined in our homes. Little did we know that such social calls are considered luxuries in this new normal.
There are 2 resorts nearby, namely Les Maisons d'Itac and The Seaplane.
Ronda is three hours away from Cebu City. From South Bus Terminal, you can take a Ceres bus headed south towards Liloan Santander via Barili. Moalboal, a touristic diving town where we live is only 20 minutes away. This area can best be reached by a rented scooter or a car rental.
You can also get a glimpse of the silhouette of Negros Island across the Tanon Strait. When the sky is clear, Mt. Kanlaon Volcano will reveal itself. At the end of the day, when the fishermen are back to join their families, you will find beached boats lining up the coast.
Due to its remote location, it is free from tourists. I have always wanted to stop and spend a few moments here every time we pass this road but we never did. Fortunately, I did manage to snap a few photographs. Such a shame, I know, how we take for granted seizing these moments. We tend to postpone seeing places near us that others might even travel distances for.
Note to self, take the time to explore areas nearby, once it is safe to do so.
Which do you prefer? The mountain or the sea? Are there interesting places near you that you haven't visited yet? Have a lovely weekend!
