@travelfeed has rally bought travel blogging to the forefront of the Steem blockchain with loads of new and interesting content creators to follow. For those new travel bloggers (and more experienced) I thought I would share what has worked for me so far on Travelfeed!
Make it personal!
This is probably my number one tip for writing on Travelfeed - personalize, personalize, personalize! This may not be true for travel blogging on other sites, but Steem is a very personal space and people enjoy reading personal insights.
What is is that you enjoyed about visiting a particular place? What was hard? What was easy? Would you recommend this place to others? What surprised you?
There are many questions and thoughts when writing a blog and offering a unique personal viewpoint. The last thing people want to read is something generic!
Share unique experiences
Especially as Travelfeed grows it is going to become more important to share unique experiences, rather than more generic posts such as "How to spend 24 hours in Paris"....
A unique experience can be many things, such as a out of the way museum, a deserted beach, a small out of the way town or a local tradition. Remember that travelling can be withing your country, and these blogs are often the most interesting as they offer that unique local knowledge!
A picture says a thousand words!
Pictures are as important (probably more so!) than the actual written content. Having a great featured image could be the difference between someone looking at your post or scrolling on to something else.
Not everyone is a photographer (I am not!), but having a couple of good and relevant photos can really help boost your post.
Offer relevant advice
When writing a travel blog, consider that your audience might be interested in visiting this place. This means offering relevant advice and details can be very helpful. I always try and (where possible) offer as much advice as possible, such as parking, costs, food options, best times to travel etc etc. Try to make it so that someone could go to this place and have all of the information they need!
Tell a story
Depending on the type of blogger you are, it can be a great idea to tell a story based on a particular piece of travel. Some people even have the skill to create multiple posts that follow on from one another.
By creating a story we are ensuring that our readers become more invested and involved in what we are sharing.
Have fun!
Last (but not least!) make sure you have fun when writing travel blogs. It shouldnt be a chore, and should be something that you enjoy - its obvious when people enjoy writing what they are sharing.
