Hello Steemians,
Greetings for the day, I hope everything is amazing at your end.

I am creating this post in continuation with my post on Prashar Lake that I created five months ago. You can check my previous post by clicking here.

In my last post, I shared the route and photographs of the Prashar Lake.

Today, I will be sharing the history and description about the lake.

Located at an altitude of 2,750 meters, the lake is considered to be sacred to sage Prashar and it is said that he had meditated here and is considered as High altitude lake. It has a round floating island in it and it moves in all the directions in the lake which covers 7 percent of area of lake and rest 93 percent is water. The depth of the lake is still undetermined.

There's a temple nearby the lake and it is believed to be built in thirteenth century and Sage Prashar meditated here, that's why it is named as Prashar Lake. It is believed that after Mahabharat War, Pandavas were coming back with Lord Kamrunag and when they reached this place, Kamrunag was in love with the surroundings and the weather and due to that he decided to stay here forever. Then Bhima one of the Pandavas (was considered to be the strongest one) rammed his elbow on one of the mountains and created a big dent over there. After that this dent became the Prashar Lake.

The lake starts to freeze and the surroundings are covered with the snow by the end of December till mid of March. This place is so beautiful and is away from busy city life.

This place is perfect to spend a weekend.
